It's been a bad year in that category for Matthews, as his season average of 39.3 percent is the second-worst result in his eight-year career. Matthews' usage has remained high in March (31.6 minutes per game over 13 contests), so it's difficult to ignore his potential to produce decent numbers, but he's a risky prospect to start in leagues that are playing their postseason matchups. He could be useful as a DFS tournament option, however.

Matthews managed four points (2-12 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 0-2 FT), six rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks across 34 minutes during Saturday's 94-86 loss to the Raptors.

Matthews continues to struggle from the field while recovering from hip and calf injuries, though has totaled a solid 18 rebounds, 18 assists, six steals and three blocks over his past four contests. Fantasy owners in year-long formats will have to decide whether or not his total statistical production is worth his massive dip in scoring, while DFS players are faced with the decision on whether or not to roster him while his price declines, hoping for a bounce back game.

Matthews managed five points (1-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block across 35 minutes during Thursday's 97-95 victory over the Clippers.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews has completely fallen off the map over the past 13 games, averaging 8.2 points across 31.5 minutes per game while shooting just 30.5 percent from the field and 27.9 percent from beyond the arc. He's been dealing with hip and calf injuries over that period, so his poor shooting could be attributed to a lack of lift. Regardless, he's performing poorly by anyone's standards. He could be worth dropping for a hotter shooter if there's one available, considering most year-long fantasy leagues are in their playoffs, where wins in the short term take priority.

Matthews finished with 15 points (5-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-5 FT), five rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 36 minutes during Sunday's 111-104 win over the Nets.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews struggled in Friday's return to the lineup following a one-game absence due to a calf injury, managing just three points (on one-of-eight from the field). He has been in a bit of a funk lately, scoring less than 10 points in eight of his last 11 appearances. Nevertheless, Matthews was in a groove for most of February, and the veteran could be called upon to play heavy minutes down the stretch as the Mavericks chase the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
