Gobert made his first NBA start in place of Derrick Favors and produced a strong line in heavy minutes. He finished with seven points (3-5 FG, 1-2 FT) nine rebounds, three blocks, and two steals in 31 minutes.
Gobert has only really seen limited time on the court behind Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors, but he was able to flash some talent in those moments. Tonight he was able to hold down the paint defensively and showed some of the upside that had scouts salivating in the FIBA World Cup. However, as long as he's coming off the bench that upside is limited to stretches when the incumbent starters are injured.

Gobert will make his first career start Sunday against the Wizards, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
With Derrick Favors (ankle) ruled out, Gobert moves into the starting lineup and should see significant minutes in a Utah frontcourt that only features one other player capable of playing as a true center in Enes Kanter. Gobert had nine points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in Friday's loss to the Heat.

Gobert appeared in 26 minutes Friday in a loss to the Heat, scoring nine points (2-2 FG, 5-6 FT) as well as grabbing 11 boards.
Derrick Favors left this game early with a sprained ankle, which accounts for Gobert's increased action. He saw more minutes than Trevor Booker, who has started in place of Favors previously this season. Favors owners could consider adding Gobert on a temporary basis if Favors has to miss any extended time with his ankle injury.

Gobert came off the bench to put up seven points (3-5 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, and three blocks during 13 minutes against Cleveland on Wednesday.
Gobert only averaged 9.6 minutes during 45 games last season but it's clear that his role is much larger this year as he's played an average of 15.8 minutes in all five of Utah's games. If given the minutes, the seven footer is able to up impressive rebound and block totals. However, he's currently coming off the bench behind Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter and is limited in terms of time on the court. Further complicating Gobert's playing time is the hot start that fellow frontcourt player Trevor Booker has had. Unless things drastically change, Gobert will be limited by the depth of players in Utah's frontcourt.

Gobert's option for the 2015-16 season has been exercised by the Jazz.
The seven-footer averaged just 9.6 minutes off the bench in 45 games last season, but finished second on the team in blocks per game with 0.9 and led the team in rebounding on three occasions. He also fared well in the Las Vegas Summer League, earning him significant run this exhibition season. He's played at least 21 minutes in each of his last four preseason games.

Gobert has played in five preseason games averaging 7.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 0.6 steals during 21.0 minutes on the court.
Gobert may ultimately be the biggest benefactor of the coaching change in Utah from Ty Corbin to Quin Snyder. Corbin showed restraint from playing the defensive-minded Gobert during his rookie campaign, although Snyder's use of the French import during the preseason seems to suggest that he'll be an integral part of Utah's rotation. With the affirmed starters of Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter up front, Trevor Booker and Gobert will come onto the court with curbed roles off the bench.

Gobert dominated the glass on Monday, ripping down 20 rebounds in just 22 minutes off the bench while also adding 11 points (5-9 FG, 1-2 FT) in a preseason win over the Clippers.
Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter have starting spots locked up in the Jazz front court, but if Gobert gets consistent minutes behind them the second-year big could prove to be a surprisingly valuable contributor in boards and blocks.

Gobert (stomach) was able to play 19 minutes off the bench during Thursday's preseason game against Portland and was able to put up five points (2-2 FG, 1-1 FT), six rebounds and one block.
Gobert seems to have overcome the gastric distress that caused him to miss practice and should be available moving forward, barring future injury. The second-year player stands to see some time off the bench under new coach Quin Snyder's rotation and may ultimately be a good source of rebounds and blocks in deeper leagues.

Gobert was unable to practice Friday with gastric distress, Jazz announcer David Locke reports.
Gobert doesn't seem to be in any real danger of missing much time off and will likely be available for practice in the coming days unless his gastric distress turns into something more serious. Looking ahead, Gobert stands to see time off the bench in new coach Quin Snyder's rotation this season, although the second-year player has an unpolished game that may ultimately curb his workload during 2014-15.

Rudy Gobert is expected to get more run with the French FIBA team.
Kevin Seraphin (knee) and Alexis Ajinca aren't going to play, so the team has already added Ian Mahinmi. Gobert was phenomenal at Las Vegas Summer League and how we'll be able to get a larger sample size to see if his improvement is for real. His footwork was vastly improved, leading to better rebounding and blocking. He's a good bet to take some of Enes Kanter's minutes.
