McDermott has submitted double-digit scoring efforts in four of the Bulls' last five games and has knocked down eight treys during that span. While it's possible McDermott could displace the struggling Tony Snell in the starting lineup at small forward sooner or later, such a change wouldn't change the second-year forward's outlook much. McDermott is routinely seeing more time than Snell as it is and appears bound for a 20-to-30-minute role on any given night regardless if he starts or not.

Coming off his best game of the young season, McDermott has earned the opportunity for his first career start.
