Staked to an early 7-0 lead, Yu Darvish held the Blue Jays to three runs on five hits in five innings of work on Sunday, improving to 7-2 in Texas' 12-6 victory.
Darvish struck out three and walked three. Not a bad outing, though Texas' prized import has now failed to complete six innings of work in three of his past four starts. Although his transition to the American game has been mostly seamless, Darvish is sporting a mediocre 1.46 WHIP to go along with his 3.25 ERA and 66/35 K/BB ratio. He'll get the Angels in Anaheim on Saturday.

Yu Darvish was wild against the Mariners on Monday, walking six and giving up five runs -- four earned -- in four innings to take a loss.
Darvish has struggled in both of his starts against Seattle, though he got a win despite giving up five runs the first time he faced them. Of course, he wasn't matched up against Felix Hernandez in that one. The six walks tonight was a new high for him, and five strikeouts matched his low. He's now 6-2 with a 3.05 ERA.

Yu Darvish mixed the good with the bad in Sunday's loss to the Indians, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits in six innings of work while walking four and striking out 11.
Darvish has now struck out at least nine batters in three consecutive outings, but also issued at least four free passes in four of his first six starts. It's earned him a 2.54 ERA to go along with a 1.46 WHIP and 44/21 K/BB ratio in 39 innings of work. Despite the moderate inconsistency, Darvish appears more than ready to be a mixed-league force. He'll get the Angels at home on Friday.

Yu Darvish pitched brilliantly against the Yankees on Tuesday, allowing no runs and seven hits in 8 1/3 innings of work.
Darvish fanned a career-high 10 batters and walked just two in the game. He had to pitch out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the third inning, but that was the only time the Yankees would threaten on the night. The Japanese right-hander now sits at 3-0 with a 2.42 ERA on the season and appears to be getting stronger with each start as he settles in to major league life. He'll look to continue his dominance when he faces the Blue Jays in Toronto next week.

Yu Darvish will make his next start Thursday against the Tigers.
The Rangers have moved him up a day in order to split lefties Matt Harrison and Derek Holland in the rotation. Darvish has a 4.76 ERA and 9/8 K/BB ratio in 11 1/3 innings over his first two major league starts and has a tough assignment ahead of him on Thursday.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News notes that Yu Darvish dramatically altered his delivery Saturday for the second time since the beginning of spring training.
"For me, it's not that difficult to do," Darvish said. "It's like a pen with a lot of different colored ink. You click one and it's red. You click another and it's black. It's no big deal." Darvish may have a penchant for changing deliveries, but has shown efficiency and command issues in his first two outings. His next probable start is Friday at Detroit.

Yu Darvish walked the tightrope against the Twins on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) over 5 2/3 innings as part of a no-decision.
Darvish allowed nine hits, four walks and hit a batter, so things could have been much worse. He loaded the bases on three separate occasions, including when he was ultimately pulled for left-hander Robbie Ross with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. Fortunately for Darvish (and Darvish owners), Ross was able to get Justin Morneau to pop up to end the scoring threat. We're expecting better things from Darvish moving forward, but he clearly needs to be more efficient.

Yu Darvish picked up his first major league win Monday despite a less than impressive outing, as he gave up five runs on eight hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings in an 11-5 win over the Mariners.
The first inning was ugly, as Darvish had recorded just one out before four runs crossed the plate. He settled in relatively well after that, though, and there was nothing wrong with his stuff. While it was certainly a disappointing debut, especially against the feeble Mariners lineup, we're still quite optimistic about his chances this season. He'll try for better results in an inviting matchup this weekend against the struggling Twins lineup.

Yu Darvish struck out 11 while allowing three runs over six innings in Friday night's 5-3 win over the Rockies.
Darvish faced something pretty close the regular Rockies' lineup and struck out Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez three times each. That's pretty impressive. All told, he threw 97 pitches while allowing six hits (including a two-run homer by Jason Giambi), issuing one walk, throwing one wild pitch and hitting a batter. In case it wasn't obvious already, the Japanese right-hander has a chance to be a dominant fantasy starter right away.

Yu Darvish will make his regular-season MLB debut on April 9 against the Mariners.
It will, of course, be a home start. Colby Lewis will take the hill on Opening Day and will be followed by Derek Holland and Matt Harrison. Darvish slots in fourth in the Texas rotation and Neftali Feliz goes fifth.
