Yu Darvish picked up his first major league win Monday despite a less than impressive outing, as he gave up five runs on eight hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings in an 11-5 win over the Mariners. The first inning was ugly, as Darvish had recorded just one out before four runs crossed the plate. He settled in relatively well after that, though, and there was nothing wrong with his stuff. While it was certainly a disappointing debut, especially against the feeble Mariners lineup, we're still quite optimistic about his chances this season. He'll try for better results in an inviting matchup this weekend against the struggling Twins lineup.
