Darvish (1-0) allowed one run on three hits and a walk over seven innings Monday, striking out six and picking up a won over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish earned his first win as a Padre by taking care of the Pirates with relative ease Monday. He tossed 63-of-95 pitches for strikes and retiring 13 of the final 14 batters he faced. The lone run he yielded came from a Phillip Evans double in the third innings. The 34-year-old will face his toughest test of the season at home against the Dodgers on Saturday.

Darvish allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out seven across six innings Tuesday against the Giants. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish bounced back from a rough Opening Day outing by firing six strong innings. His only blemish on the evening was surrendering a solo home run to Brandon Crawford in the third, as he otherwise held the Giants to a couple of singles. The Padres unfortunately weren't able to give him much run support, so he was unable to qualify for the win. However, he should have a good chance for another dominant performance in the series opener against the Pirates on Monday.

Darvish allowed four earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out six across 4.2 innings Thursday against the Diamondbacks. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish allowed three singles and an earned run in the first inning, but then held the Diamondbacks scoreless for the next four frames. However, his outing was derailed in his final inning of work when he allowed one solo and one two-run home run. Darvish also induced only nine swinging strikes on 93 total pitches. While he likely just experienced an Opening Day hiccup, Darvish will look to bounce back in his second start of the campaign Tuesday against the Giants.

Darvish has been named the Opening Day starter for the Padres, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish finished second in NL Cy Young voting with the Cubs in 2020 and had a strong spring showing. He tossed five scoreless innings while striking out seven in two Cactus League starts and will take the mound for the Padres against Arizona on April 1 as a result.

Darvish hurled three scoreless and hitless innings Sunday in a Cactus League contest versus Cincinnati. He struck out three batters.
EDGE Analysis
The only baserunner Darvish allowed in the sharp appearance came on a hit batsman in the third inning. The veteran right-hander is making a strong case for Opening Day pitching honors -- he has held opponents scoreless while striking out seven across five innings through two spring starts.

Darvish tossed two scoreless innings against Kansas City in a Cactus League contest Sunday, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish made quite a first impression in his first outing as a Padre, working around a single to strike out the side in the first inning. He then retired the first two batters he faced in the second before finishing his appearance with another strikeout. San Diego has yet to name its Opening Day starter, but Darvish figures to be the early favorite for the honor given his dominant campaign in 2020.

Darvish is slated to make his Padres debut in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Royals, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres deliberately kept Darvish off their pitching schedule early in the Cactus League slate, with the reigning NL Cy Young runner-up limited to facing hitters in live batting practice and simulated games. Darvish still remains on track to handle a normal starter's workload by the start of the regular season, though manager Jayce Tingler has yet to say whether the 34-year-old would receiving the Opening Day nod April 1 versus the Diamondbacks. Coming off an abbreviated 2020 campaign with the Cubs in which he posted a 2.01 ERA and 0.96 WHIP to go with 93 strikeouts in 76 innings, Darvish looks like a safe top-10 pitching selection in fantasy drafts.

Darvish has been traded to the Padres along with Victor Caratini in exchange for Zach Davies, Reginald Preciado, Owen Caissie, Yeison Santana and Ismael Mena, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish is coming off a very strong season in which he went 8-3 while posting a 2.01 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 93:14 K:BB across 76 innings for the Cubs. He now heads west to join a Padres team that continues to focus on bolstering their starting pitching staff. The right-hander will settle in alongside Blake Snell, who was acquired from the Rays on Sunday, atop the Padres rotation.

Darvish allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six over 6.2 innings as he was charged with the loss Friday in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish began Friday's contest with six scoreless innings, but he was unable to get any run support from the Cubs' offense. As a result, the two runs that Darvish allowed in the seventh inning proved to be the difference as the Marlins completed the sweep to advance to the NLDS. The right-hander made a strong case for the NL Cy Young Award during the abbreviated regular season as he posted a career-best 2.01 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 93:14 K:BB over 76 innings across 12 starts.

Darvish won't start Game 2 of the Wild Card Series against the Marlins as scheduled, as the game has been postponed due to rain, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish will presumably get the nod Friday for what was originally scheduled to be Game 3. The Cubs need a win to stay alive, but turning to a pitcher who recorded a 2.01 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP in 12 starts this season should certainly help.
