Darvish (hip) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list to start Monday's game against Atlanta, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Manager Jayce Tingler said Friday that Darvish is "unlikely" to pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game after the right-hander exited Thursday's start with back and hip tightness, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports .

Tingler's update comes as little surprise given the relative insignificance of Tuesday's exhibition. Darvish still figures to have a strong chance of pitching soon after the club returns from the break July 16, though his availability likely won't be finalized until the latter part of next week.

The right-hander delivered his worst outing of the season Thursday with six runs allowed across three frames. Darvish first dealt with the back issue last month, but the injury resurfaced versus Washington, along with some hip tightness. The injuries don't sound overly severe, though it could still affect the veteran's availability for Tuesday's All-Star Game in Colorado.

Darvish allowed six runs on eight hits with two strikeouts in three innings during Thursday's 9-8 win against Washington. He didn't factor into the decision.

Darvish was hurt by the long ball in the second inning, giving up solo homers to Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins to open the scoring. Those same two got to Darvish again in the sixth, with Harper breaking a 2-2 tie on a sac fly and Hoskins following up with a run-scoring double. Darvish has allowed four earned runs in four of his last seven starts, but he still owns a sparkling 2.65 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 17 outings overall. He'll take a National League-leading 123 strikeouts into his next scheduled start next week versus the Nationals.

Durvish allowed one earned run on six hits and a walk while striking out seven across six innings in the win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday. He did not factor into the decision.

Darvish's only run allowed came in the fourth inning when Pavin Smith scored on a wild pitch. The 34-year-old made easy work of the Diamondbacks despite not getting the win. He has allowed just one run in each of his last two starts. On the season, Darvish has a 2.44 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP with a 10.8 K/9 in 96 innings.

Darvish (7-2) beat the Dodgers 6-2 Monday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk with 11 strikeouts across six innings.

Facing his former team, Darvish dazzled by recording nearly four times as many strikeouts as baserunners allowed. His lone mistake was a first-pitch sinker in the third that Mookie Betts launched over the center field fence. The 34-year-old righty now has eight starts of at least six innings pitched and one or zero runs allowed in 15 turns and possess an excellent 2.50 ERA and 0.92 WHIP.

Darvish didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Rockies after allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while fanning five across five innings.

EDGE Analysis

Pitching at Coors Field is always tough and Darvish's numbers in this outing reflected that, as he delivered one of his most inefficient outings of the season. The left-hander looked in complete control during the first three innings, but he couldn't hold on and was lifted in the sixth inning before even recording an out. The Japanese hurler saw his ERA increase to 2.57, but he continues to be one of the most reliable pitchers in the National League and should remain a strong play across all formats. He's slated to pitch again during the weekend series against the Reds at home.

Darvish (6-2) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Cubs despite giving up two runs on three hits and two walks while fanning eight across seven innings.

EDGE Analysis

Darvish looked excellent on the mound and notched his eighth quality start of the campaign, but that wasn't enough to extend his undefeated streak to nine appearances due to the lack of run support. Darvish has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the National League this season, however, and he improved his ERA to a blistering 2.28 over 79 innings across 13 starts. His next start should be a tough one, however, as he lines up to face the Rockies on the road next week.
