Wandy Rodriguez got the loss in Wednesday's start against the Cubs, allowing four runs in five innings.
The Cubs were squaring up Rodriguez well, victimizing him for two home runs. Overall, Rodriguez allowed nine hits and walked three while striking out six. Rodriguez is pitching through elbow problems, so starts of his caliber should be expected. He'll face the Reds on the road next.

Wandy Rodriguez surrendered three earned runs in six innings Thursday in a loss to the Cubs.
Rodriguez yielded runs in the first, second, and third innings in an unimpressive 2014 debut. He struck out five batters and issued just one walk, but the balls he left over the plate were just far too hittable. The left-hander is trying to pitch with an arthritic elbow and the experiment is doubtful to go smoothly. The Pirates probably should have signed some reliable starting pitching this offseason.

Wandy Rodriguez allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings and homered Tuesday in a win over the Blue Jays.
The wind was wreaking some havoc today, but Rodriguez survived and recorded his first win of the spring. The Pirates have to be pleased with how he's thrown this spring as he attempts to pitch with an arthritic elbow. We're not convinced that he'll have much fantasy value, but he looks like a better bet now than he did a month ago.

Wandy Rodriguez (elbow) pitched a couple of scoreless innings, striking out two, versus the Twins on Friday.
Rodriguez probably isn't pitching 200 innings or anything close to it this year, but he's giving reason for hope that he can be a part of the Opening Day rotation. If he makes it through the spring, he'll be worth trying in NL-only leagues anyway.

Wandy Rodriguez yielded an unearned run in his inning of work Saturday as the Pirates and Rays played to a 2-2 tie in 10 innings.
Rodriguez struck out two and didn't allow a hit, though he did hit a batter. Rodriguez will have to spend the rest of his career dealing with arthritis in his pitching elbow. The Pirates are hoping he can serve as their fourth starter, but they do have alternatives.

Wandy Rodriguez (elbow) threw a session of live batting practice on Thursday in Pirates camp.
Rodriguez is taking a slower approach to his spring throwing program than most of the other pitchers in camp with the Bucs after ending the 2013 campaign with arthritis in his left elbow. He's aiming to be ready for the start of the 2014 regular season, but it's no sure thing at this point. Wandy was limited to 12 starts last year.

Wandy Rodriguez (elbow) will throw once every three days early on in camp before being re-evaluated.
The other Pirates' pitchers are throwing every other day, but the club wants Rodriguez to get extra rest after ended last season with arthritis in his elbow. The left-hander looks to be in line to be ready for the start of the season at this point, but Opening Day is still a ways away.

Wandy Rodriguez (elbow) said during the team's recent mini-camp that he would be ready for the first day of spring training.
The veteran southpaw was shut down in September due to arthritis in his elbow, but he has been working out at his home in the Dominican Republic all winter and insists that he'll be ready to go. Even if he is a few days behind, he should have no problem being ready to go for the start of the regular season.

Wandy Rodriguez (elbow) has resumed throwing and says that his arm "feels good."
Rodriguez was limited to just 12 starts last season due to forearm/elbow pain, but he said he didn't feel anything during a long-toss session last month. The veteran southpaw hopes to begin throwing bullpen sessions in a couple of weeks, after which he should have a better idea of his progress. Rodriguez exercised a $13 million player option in November and should be a part of the Pirates' rotation in 2014 if healthy.
