Tyler Skaggs surrendered four runs in five innings Thursday in a loss to the Padres.
Skaggs impressed in his first three starts for Arizona, but he's given up 14 runs in 12 innings since, nine of which have come against the mediocre San Diego offense. The Diamondbacks might want to shut him down rather than have him make his last two starts.

Tyler Skaggs had the worst start of his young major-league career in Friday's loss to the Padres, allowing five runs on five hits in just three innings of work.
Skaggs fanned five and walked one in a no-decision. His biggest mistake came in the third, where he served up a three-run homer to Chase Headley. Skaggs had previously gone at least five innings and allowed no more than three runs in each of his first three major-league starts. He'll look to get back on track against the Giants next weekend, where he'll be sporting a 4.43 ERA at first pitch.

Tyler Skaggs pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs -- two earned -- in a loss to the Reds on Monday.
Skaggs was again a bit wild -- he had two HBPs to go along with his two walks -- but he held down a pretty good lineup tonight. He's poised to be an asset in NL-only leagues the rest of the way.

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Friday that Tyler Skaggs will remain in the rotation, and that they'll go with a six-man rotation this time through.
Skaggs pitched very well in a victory over the Marlins in his MLB debut on Wednesday and is worth adding in all deeper mixed leagues at this point. No word yet on who may be bumped from the rotation in the long run, but the D'Backs are still listening to offers on Joe Saunders.

Tyler Skaggs allowed one run on two hits over three innings in his first start against the Reds Sunday.
The Diamondbacks top pitching prospect, Skaggs battled a minor shoulder injury this spring and will begin 2012 in the minors. He's likely only behind Trevor Bauer on the minor-league depth chart.

Tyler Skaggs (shoulder) tossed a successful bullpen session Sunday and will pitch after Trevor Cahill on Wednesday.
Skaggs was scratched from Saturday's appearance due to soreness in the front of his pitching shoulder. It shouldn't be a lingering issue. Skaggs has had phenomenal 2011 season, posting a 2.99 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 180/46 K/BB ratio over 147 1/3 frames between High- and Double-A. He will begin 2012 in the minors.

Tyler Skaggs has been scratched from Saturday's appearance due to some soreness in the front of his pitching shoulder.
The Diamondbacks are saying it's just a precautionary move, as Skaggs is already feeling better and is expected to throw in the bullpen Sunday. It's not clear when he'll be ready for game action, but it appears this isn't anything to get too worked up over. Skaggs will begin 2012 in the minors after posting a 2.99 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 180/46 K/BB ratio over 147 1/3 frames between High- and Double-A.

Diamondbacks pitching prospect Tyler Skaggs is expected to receive an invite to spring training next season and compete for a spot in the rotation.
Given that he's had just eight starts above A-ball, he would probably have to be lights-out in spring training to receive real consideration, but there's no denying Skaggs has had phenomenal year, posting a 2.99 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 180/46 K/BB ratio over 147 1/3 frames between High- and Double-A. The D'Backs could have a few interesting young arms in camp next year competing for rotation spots, with Jarrod Parker and Trevor Bauer also likely on that list.
