Travis Snider went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBI against his old team as the Pirates topped the Blue Jays 6-4 on Wednesday.
Snider is 4-for-9 since returning from a cut finger that kept him out of the Pirates' first three games. He's competing for the starting job in right field after a disappointing 2013 season that saw him get left off the NLDS roster.

Travis Snider got the stitches removed from a finger on his left hand and will be the designated hitter in Sunday's game against the Phillies.
He cut the finger earlier this month while slicing potatoes. Snider isn't ready to play the outfield yet, but it sounds like he's close. "One day at a time," Snider said. "I'm getting there."

Travis Snider is currently shut down from throwing after injuring a finger on his left hand while cutting sweet potatoes.
Really. It doesn't sound like a major concern at this time, but we have an early entrant in 2014's most comical injuries. On the bright side, Snider is now fully recovered from October surgery to remove bone spurs from his left foot.

Snider was in his first year of arbitration eligibility. The former top prospect has batted just .241/.303/.398 over his first six seasons and could be a non-tender candidate next winter if he doesn't pick it up this season.

Travis Snider had surgery on his left foot two weeks after the season.
The surgery remedied a joint issue and bone spurs. The injury would help explain why he faded so badly down the stretch. Snider batted just .215/.281/.333 with five home runs and 25 RBI over 285 plate appearances this past season and will have to earn his way back into the Pirates' good graces in 2014.

Pirates activated OF Travis Snider from the 15-day disabled list.
Snider has been sidelined since late July with an injured toe. He should see some starts against right-handed pitching, though with Marlon Byrd now around, they might be few and far between.
