Travis Snider (side) pronounced himself ready to play after going through a "nothing held back" workout prior to Tuesday's game. Snider was held out of the lineup again, but he'll be available off the bench. The outfielder hasn't played since Friday due to tightness in his right side.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Travis Snider (side) could be available to pinch-hit on Sunday. Snider was scratched from Saturday's lineup with tightness in his right side, but it sounds like he's avoided the dreaded oblique injury that likely would have cost him significant time. Garrett Jones is starting in right field Sunday, with Gaby Sanchez handling first base.

Travis Snider said Saturday that he's dealing with tightness in his right side, not his left. It was originally reported as left side discomfort. The 25-year-old outfielder is off to a solid start at the plate, hitting .305/.388/.424 with five RBI through his first 59 at-bats. He's considered day-to-day for now.

Travis Snider doubled twice Sunday against the Reds. After opening the season on the bench, Snider has started against right-handers this last week and gone 7-for-16 with three walks since April 8. He's worth picking up in any NL-only leagues in which he was dropped.

During Pirates Fest on Friday, general manager Neal Huntington backed off of his previous statement that Travis Snider and Starling Marte were locked in as starters in right and left field respectively. Huntington instead, offered that there are lots of guys to compete for the position, including Alex Presley and Jose Tabata. He didn't mention Garrett Jones as an outfield option, so the team either views him as their starting first baseman, or he could be a trade candidate.

Pirates general manager Neal Huntington indicated Monday that Starling Marte and Travis Snider are locked in as starters in left and right field, respectively. Huntington said Jose Tabata and Alex Presley are "coming in to fight (for jobs). We're going to have interesting decisions." Garrett Jones, who has split time evenly between first base and right field, is currently in line to start at first, though he could be traded.

Travis Snider is in the Pirates' lineup Wednesday for just the second time since September 4. He's been limited mainly to pinch-hitting duty this month due to a right hamstring issue, but the Pirates think Snider is finally back to 100 percent. The 24-year-old is batting .252/.336/.346 with one homer in 40 games since joining the Bucs.

Travis Snider (hamstring) grounded into a game-ending double play as a pinch-hitter in Tuesday's loss to the Reds. It was his second straight day with a pinch-hit appearance. He hasn't started a game since September 4, but he should be ready before long.
