D'Arnaud is fine after having his left ring finger cut open during a slide in Sunday's game, but he will get the day off Monday, NorthJersey.com's Matt Ehalt reports. He could be held out another day or two, but it does not sound very serious at all. Kevin Plawecki got the start at catcher Monday.

D'Arnaud left Sunday's game after a spike cut open his left ring finger while he was sliding into second base. D'Arnaud did not need stitches to close the wound. He might miss a day or two with the injury, as it may be difficult to catch or grip the bat with the bandage on it.

D'Arnaud, who needs to work on his defense, failed to retire Eric Young Jr. on an attempted steal in the first inning of the Mets' spring training opener Wednesday, ESPN New York reports. D'Arnaud did throw out Freddie Freeman trying to advance on a wild pitch later in the game. Last season, d'Arnaud struggled with passed balls, as he focused on framing pitches, and throwing out runners, which may have been due to the bone chips in his elbow.

D'Arnaud has a bone spur in his right elbow and will undergo surgery Wednesday, ending his season, The Record reports. D'Arnaud apparently first felt the injury Tuesday, and found out later that it was a bone spur. He had a good second half to the season, but it will end prematurely due to the injury. D'Arnaud will become a free agent in the offseason, and it wouldn't be surprising if multiple teams are interested in the 25-year-old catcher.
