The Reds will call up left-hander Tony Cingrani to start Tuesday against the Cubs. This has been the assumption for a few days, but it's now official. Cingrani pitched well in his first taste of the majors earlier this year, posting a 3.27 ERA and 41/9 K/BB ratio over 33 innings. He's worth a look in mixed fantasy leagues while Johnny Cueto is sidelined.

Reds manager Dusty Baker said Friday that Tony Cingrani is the "likely choice" to start Tuesday against the Cubs. Baker stopped short of confirming anything, but Cingrani was scratched from his scheduled start Friday with Triple-A Louisville, which is an indication that he'll fill Johnny Cueto's spot in the rotation. The 23-year-old southpaw posted a 3.27 ERA and 41/9 K/BB ratio over 33 innings during his first taste of the big leagues earlier this year and should be picked up in mixed fantasy leagues.

Tony Cingrani has been scratched from Friday's start at Triple-A Louisville. It pretty much cinches that he'll be called up to start on Tuesday in place of Johnny Cueto (lat). Cingrani put up a 3.27 ERA and 41/9 K/BB ratio over 33 innings with the Reds earlier this season.

Reds optioned LHP Tony Cingrani to Triple-A Louisville. The Reds need to clear a rotation spot with Johnny Cueto set to return from the disabled list Monday, so Cingrani will officially be sent down. He was mostly impressive over his first six major league starts, posting a 3.27 ERA, nine walks and 41 strikeouts over 33 innings. Neftali Soto has been called up to replace Cingrani on the active roster, while Mike Leake will remain the team's fifth starter.

Tony Cingrani yielded three runs in five innings Friday in a no-decision against the Phillies. Following his recent bout of shoulder soreness, Cingrani needed 100 pitches to complete the five frames. After posting a 1.50 ERA over his first three starts in the majors, the southpaw has allowed nine runs in 15 innings over his last three starts and has served up five homers in the process. We still like Cingrani for the long-term, but he could be headed back to the minors next week when Johnny Cueto (lat) returns from the disabled list.

Tony Cingrani's next start has been pushed back due to a sore pitching shoulder. The soreness is said to be minor, but with Monday's off day, the Reds want to play it safe. It's possible they could skip over his turn entirely, depending on how he recovers. This certainly won't help Cingrani's case to remain in the rotation after Johnny Cueto returns.

Tony Cingrani said Monday that he "wouldn't be surprised" if he gets sent back to Triple-A Louisville. The 23-year-old left-hander has registered a stellar 2.89 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 37/7 K/BB over 28 innings this season for the Reds, but Johnny Cueto (lat, oblique) is just about ready to return from the disabled list. It will either be Cingrani or Leake leaving the Cincy starting rotation to make room. "Whatever they tell me to do, I will do," Cingrani said. "Leake has been here for four years, and I wouldn't be surprised if I go back down."

Tony Cingrani yielded two runs in four innings Friday against the Brewers. Cingrani needed 85 pitches just to get 12 outs. The rookie left-hander allowed five hits and two walks while whiffing four. He kept the Reds off the board for the first three innings before giving up back-to-back homers to Jean Segura and Ryan Braun in his final frame. Cingrani still holds an excellent 2.89 ERA through five starts, but he has allowed six home runs in 28 innings. Johnny Cueto is nearing his return from the disabled list, so the Reds will have to make a decision between Cingrani and Mike Leake soon.

Tony Cingrani had mixed results in a no-decision against the Reds on Saturday, allowing four runs on just three hits and a walk over six innings. Cingrani punched out five in the game but he also hit a pair of batters. All of the Cubs' damage came from Alfonso Soriano, who belted a pair of two-run homers. Cingrani has been very impressive through his first four starts this season, boasting a 2-0 record, 2.63 ERA and 33/5 K/BB ratio over 24 innings. He'll look to keep things rolling when he does battle against the Brewers at home on Friday. It's not yet clear what the Reds are going to do with him when Johnny Cueto returns from the disabled list.

Tony Cingrani hurled six innings of scoreless ball Sunday to help the Reds beat the Nationals 5-2. Another electric outing from the young left-hander. Cingrani gave up only two hits and issued just one walk while racking up a career-high 11 strikeouts. He now has a 1.50 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 28/4 K/BB ratio through his first 18 major league innings this season. The Reds will keep rolling Cingrani out there until Johnny Cueto (lat) returns and he's a must-own right now in all standard mixed fantasy leagues.
