Souza will be evaluated for a left shoulder injury Saturday, but the Nats do not have any concern about a possible head injury after the outfielder ran into the right-field wall while attempting to make a catch during Friday's game, Mark Zuckerman of CSN Washington reports.
In an all-out effort to bring back a home run, Souza hit the wall at full speed and left after his next at-bat. It's definitely good news that a head injury has been ruled out, but further tests on the shoulder will determine how much time Souza is going to miss as a result of the collision.

Souza left Friday's game in the bottom of the third inning with an undisclosed injury, MLB.com reports.
While chasing a fly ball that ultimately left the yard in the bottom of the second, Souza hit the right field wall very hard and stayed on the ground for at least a minute. Eventually, Souza got up on his own and he even stayed in and logged an at-bat in the top of the third, but he was lifted in the bottom of the frame. Consider Souza day-to-day until more information becomes available.

Souza, 25, has been on fire during his current seven-game hitting streak, batting .481/.563/.852 with two home runs, four doubles, 10 RBI and three stolen bases. On the season, Souza owns an impressive .368/.462/.584 batting line to go along with 10 homers, 13 doubles, 15 stolen bases and 41 RBI in 58 games. He's already seen time in the major leagues this year, going 1-for-8 while appearing in eight games, but is blocked from regular playing time in the Nationals already overcrowded outfield.

Nationals optioned OF Steven Souza to Triple-A Syracuse.
Souza had one hit in eight at-bats during his week-long stint with the major league club. The 25-year-old outfielder was on a tear at Triple-A before his promotion and will try to get back into that offensive groove.

Nationals recalled OF Steven Souza from Triple-A Syracuse.
Souza had one hit in four at-bats earlier this season with the big club. He's batted .333/.463/.545 with a pair of homers and 10 RBI at Syracuse this season. Souza should see some playing time versus lefties while Bryce Harper (thumb) is out.

Nationals optioned OF Steven Souza to Triple-A Syracuse.
Souza was with the team as additional depth while Denard Span was on the disabled list with a concussion. He saw just five plate appearances in his five games with the club, going 1-for-4 plus a walk. He has a bright future and should get another chance with the Nats during the 2014 season.

Nationals recalled OF Steven Souza from Triple-A Syracuse.
Souza had a breakout season last year in the Nationals' minor league system and was off to a hot start this month at Triple-A. He could get semi-regular playing time while Denard Span nurses a concussion and may carry value in NL-only fantasy formats for his combination of power and speed.

Nationals prospect OF Steven Souza homered for the second consecutive game on Thursday for Triple-A Syracuse.
Souza, who turns 25 later this month, opened the season in a 1-for-11 funk, but the athletic outfielder since has settled in and is now 5-for-11 for two homers and seven RBI over his last three games. In 2013, Souza turned in a long-overdue breakout campaign at Double-A Harrisburg, batting .300/.396/.557 with 23 doubles, 15 home runs, 20 stolen bases and a 76/41 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 77 games. The Nationals' outfield is already overcrowded, but Souza, who's already on the team's 40-man roster, should be ready to make an impact this season if called on.

Steven Souza went 3-for-3 with two homers and a walk in leading the Nationals to a 4-3 win over the Astros on Sunday.
Souza, who turns 25 next month, is 11-for-31 with three homers, three doubles and a 4/4 K/BB ratio this spring. Of course, there's no room for him in the Nationals' outfield with the team sporting one of the game's most expensive benches. He could probably use a year in Triple-A anyway, but the Nationals should seriously consider giving him a look ahead of Nate McLouth if one of their starting outfielders gets hurt.
