Pearce (back) is not in the lineup against Detroit on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Pearce will take a seat on the bench after leaving Friday's game due to lower back stiffness. There hasn't been any word regarding his condition following the initial diagnosis, and it appears as though this is just a minor injury. In his place, Teoscar Hernandez will man left field and bat sixth in the order.

Pearce was forced to leave Friday night's game against Detroit with lower back stiffness.
EDGE Analysis
Pearce was replaced in left field by Teoscar Hernandez. We'll consider him day-to-day until we hear more, but this doesn't sound like a serious injury at this point.

Pearce is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Pearce heads to the bench for the first time since Aug. 26 on the heels of a seven-game stretch in which he hit 3-for-31. That poor stretch of production isn't expected to result in Pearce losing out on a regular starting gig, but he'll likely sit more often in September with the Blue Jays eager to give more opportunities to some of their younger options. September callup Teoscar Hernandez will enter the lineup in left field and bat leadoff in Pearce's stead, marking Hernandez's second start in three contests.

Pearce is not in Saturday's lineup against the Twins, Mike Wilner of BlueJaysTalk reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pearce retreats to the bench following four straight starts, hitting .278 at the plate during that span, including an 0-for-5 day during Friday's loss. In his place, Ezequiel Carrera draws the assignment in left, while batting atop the order.

Pearce went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
His second-inning blast -- Pearce's 13th of the season -- was one of six hit by the Jays in a wild affair. The 34-year-old is now slashing .317/.421/.587 in August with three homers, seven RBI and 14 runs in 18 games, and his recent move to the top of the order should only continue to afford him plenty of opportunities to cross the plate.

Pearce will bat at the top of the order Wednesday against the Rays, Roger Mooney of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
This marks the second time all season that Pearce will bat in the leadoff position for Toronto, the first coming in April. He's been tearing it up at the plate as of late, hitting .318/.404/.523 since Aug. 8. Pearce continues to earn everyday starts out in left field, and could see more time at the beginning of the order while manager John Gibbons tinkers with his lineup.

Pearce is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Cubs, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pearce has been hot at the plate in August -- slashing .321/.422/.547 with two homers and an 11:9 K:BB through 15 games -- but he'll head to the bench for a breather after starting six contests in a row. Norichika Aoki will take over for him in left field, batting eighth.

Pearce went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran continues to produce in August, hitting .317 (13-for-41) in 12 games with two homers, five RBI and 10 runs. Pearce will still sit against tough right-handers as the Jays try to keep him healthy and give him plenty of rest, but his .817 OPS and 12 home runs in 73 games on the year will keep him in left field on most nights with the team fighting for a spot in the postseason.

Pearce is out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pearce will hit the bench following a string of five consecutive starts, opening up a spot in the corner outfield for Ezequiel Carrera. With a .272/.364/.489 line since the All-Star break, Pearce seems to have earned a full-time role for the Blue Jays and could make for an attractive pickup in mixed leagues where he's still sitting on the waiver wire.
