Marlins manager Mike Redmond said he plans to use "everybody" at closer.
Michael Dunn saved Sunday's game and Chad Qualls was warming up during a save chance Monday before the Marlins extended their lead. Former full-time closer Steve Cishek holds a 4.91 ERA and 1.42 WHIP on the year and has struggled against left-handed batters. "We're going to use Cishek. We'll use Qualls. We haven't had that many save opportunities. We need those guys to pitch. We need Cishek to go down there and log some innings. He's still going to close games. Qualls might close some games. Dunn might close some games. We need these guys to pitch we need them to stay sharp. They're all going to contribute."

Steve Cishek was pulled from a save chance Sunday after allowing a two-out single and a walk.
Cishek came on after Ricky Nolasco gave up a leadoff double and got a groundout and sac fly before running into trouble. The closer then gave way to Mike Dunn, who walked a batter before getting a groundout to end it. Cishek has been dominant against right-handers this season, but lefties have really given him fits. It's possible Dunn could see the occasional save chance if matchups dictate it.

Steve Cishek worked a perfect ninth inning in a non-save situation against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Cishek took the loss against the Reds his last time out, so it was good to see him back and pitching well. The Marlins don't have any better options and Cishek is actually pretty good for the most part, so there's little doubt he will continue to be the closer going forward.

Steve Cishek took his fourth loss after giving up three runs in 1 2/3 innings against the Reds on Thursday.
Cishek pitched a scoreless ninth with the Marlins down 2-1 and then was asked to stay in to pitch the 10th after the Marlins tied it. It's the second time this year he's been asked to get more than three outs, and both times he's taken losses. Cishek had been pitching better of late, so he should be safe in the closer's role. He's 5-for-6 in his save chances this year, blowing only his first opportunity on April 7.

Steve Cishek struck out two in a perfect ninth for his fifth save Friday against the Dodgers.
The first strikeout came on a pitch that should have been called ball four, but Cishek will take it. His save tonight came with two men warming in the pen behind him. It's just the second time he's pitched this month, as the Marlins have tried to limit him to save situations.

Steve Cishek took his third loss after allowing a solo homer in a tie game Thursday against the Marlins.
Cishek has converted his last two save chances after blowing his first, but this makes five appearances in 10 outings in which he's allowed runs. We're not overly concerned; tonight's homer was the first he's allowed and he has a nice 11/3 K/BB ratio in 10 innings. Still, as the closer for the Marlins, he's only going to get so many chances to earn saves and record wins.

Steve Cishek earned his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning against the Twins on Tuesday.
Cishek walked Joe Mauer but went through the rest of the Twins' top of the order to secure the victory. The 26-year-old closer has had only three save chances on the year, a trend that's likely to continue given the strength of the Marlins' roster. Still, if and when save opportunities do present themselves Cishek will be the one getting the call and, more often than not, he should get the job done.

Steve Cishek worked a scoreless inning against the Reds on Friday, preserving a 2-1 lead and recording his first save of the young season.
Cishek allowed a leadoff single to Zack Cozart, but calmly retired the next three hitters in order to end the proceedings. His save chances may be limited pitching for a poor Miami squad, but Cishek has certainly proven himself to be a capable closer.

Steve Cishek blew his first save chance of the season Sunday, allowing a walk-off, two-run single to Marlon Byrd in a loss to the Mets.
Cishek got Lucas Duda to fly out to start the frame, but he then hit a batter and allowed two straight singles to blow it. The Marlins don't have many other options in their bullpen, but that's now two straight poor outings for Cishek. He can't afford many more.

Steve Cishek imploded in the ninth inning on Friday, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk in just 1/3 of an inning, spoiling a brilliant outing by Nathan Eovaldi.
Cishek took over with a 3-0 lead, and promptly allowed a lead-off double to Jason Heyward and walk to Chipper Jones. After striking out Freddie Freeman, he surrendered an RBI single to Dan Uggla and was lifted for Mike Dunn. Dunn proceeded to allow a two-run double to Brian McCann to complete the implosion. He's now blown two of his last five chances and could be at risk of conceding opportunities back to Heath Bell.
