Steve Cishek allowed two runs in his second inning of work as the Marlins lost to the Mets on Tuesday. Cishek worked a scoreless ninth inning but was sent back out for the 10th, where he ran into problems. The right-hander ended up giving up three hits and two walks in the inning, with one of the walks being intentional. The outing certainly didn't help his trade stock, but closers are rarely asked to go more than one inning at a time and he shouldn't be downgraded for the hiccup.

He's been dynamite since posting a disappointing 5.25 ERA in April. The Marlins apparently have no interest in dealing their closer, which is great news for fantasy owners.

CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that the Marlins are telling teams Steve Cishek is unavailable. Miami is also unwilling to part with left-handed reliever Mike Dunn, according to Knobler's sources. Cishek is under team control through 2017 and the Fish probably plan to contend while he's in the fold. Dunn can't hit the free agent market until after the 2016 season.

Steve Cishek was slapped with his fifth loss after allowing three runs over 1 1/3 innings against the Nationals on Sunday. Cishek was called on with one out in the ninth inning of a tie game. He retired the first three batters he faced -- including the leadoff hitter in the 10th -- but then ran into trouble. Cishek ends the first half 17-for-19 in save conversions to go with a 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 41/13 K/BB rate over 41 1/3 innings.

After a bumpy start to the year, Cishek has now notched eight consecutive saves without a blown save. He also hasn't allowed a run in that time, striking out 10 in 8 1/3 innings of work. The Marlins aren't likely to generate an abundance of save opportunities, but Cishek is a must-own at this point.

Even with a 6-3 lead, Cishek had the game in doubt by putting runners on second and third with two outs and Buster Posey batting. Cishek fell behind 3-0, but eventually coaxed Posey into a ground out to end the contest. The right-hander had just three saves in April and two in May, but has tallied seven since June 8. Such is the fickle nature of being a closer, especially when pitching for a team as bad as Miami.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond said a few weeks ago that the ninth inning was open to everyone, but Cishek has gotten two saves in the last four days. It's not a sexy job and it carries minimal fantasy value, but it seems as though Cishek will be the first man up in save situations in Miami.

According to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro, the Marlins have told clubs that Steve Cishek is not available. The Fish are also said to be protecting left-handed reliever Mike Dunn, at least for now. Cishek, 26, has a 4.50 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 21/12 K/BB ratio in 24 innings this season as Miami's primary closer. He doesn't carry that much real-life trade value anyway.
