Cishek returned to the mound during Sunday's loss to the Rockies, pitching two thirds of an inning with a walk and one strikeout. After a couple of weeks in the minors, the former closer was thrust right back into a high-pressure situation, entering a bases loaded situation with one out in the seventh. Cishek induced a ground ball that was nearly turned into an inning ending double play, but ultimately allowed an inherited runner to score. The appearance has to be considered a victory for Cishek, who has endured a nightmarish season thus far, and the Marlins bullpen will be much improved if he is able to recapture his dominant form.

Cishek was recalled from Double-A Jacksonville after Friday's game against the Rockies, Manny Navarro of the Palm Beach Post reports. Cishek was sent back to the minors after a string of poor outings cost him the closer's role, but he was able to right the ship quickly at Double-A, where he tossed five scoreless innings and didn't walk a batter. Though A.J. Ramos blew his most recent save chance, he's probably solidified himself as the Marlins' ninth-inning man at this point, leaving Cishek to serve primarily in a setup capacity upon his return to the big club.

The Marlins have optioned Cishek to Double-A Jacksonville, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. It's a bit surprising to see the demotion happen like this, but Cishek has had an awful season and has been giving up hits in bunches lately -- 16 of the in his last nine innings. He'll get a chance to work things out in the minors; it stands to reason that if he does so, Cishek will be back with Miami in the second half. No corresponding move has been announced yet.

Cishek said Tuesday that he will be used in earlier innings for the time being, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. Cishek was adamant that he is healthy but acknowledged he has some mechanical tweaks to work out, and it sounds like he will do so in the middle innings. Manager Mike Redmond hinted that a closer change was coming after Cishek blew his fourth save of the season Monday, saying "we can't keep blowing late leads" and that the Marlins would "see where we're at" Tuesday. A.J. Ramos is the top candidate to step into the closer role.

Cishek blew a save opportunity for the second day in a row and the fourth time in seven attempts in Monday's loss to the Dodgers. After the game, manager Mike Redmond wouldn't commit to a change, but hinted that one might be in the offing, the Miami Herald reports. "(Cishek) has done a tremendous job for us," Redmond said. "But at the end of the day, it's about winning games. We can't keep blowing late leads. We'll see tomorrow, regroup, see where we're at." Cishek retired the first batter he faced, but then walked Yasmani Grandal, gave up a single to Andre Ethier and then gave up a walk-off homer to Scott Van Slyke. Though he touched 92 mph Monday night, his average fastball this season has been two mph slower than last year (89.6 mph vs. 91.7 mph last year). A.J. Ramos and Bryan Morris appear to be the top two candidates to replace Cishek.

Cishek suffered his third blown save of the season Sunday against the Giants, surrendering two runs on three hits and two walks. It was another forgettable outing for Cishek as he allowed the tying run to score on a bases loaded walk before giving up a walk-off single to Matt Duffy. The typically solid closer is now sitting with an unsightly 8.18 ERA and 1.82 WHIP over 11 innings pitched this season. He's allowed opposing batters to hit .277 against him to go along with a poor 13:7 K:BB ratio. Prior to Sunday, Cishek had strung together four straight scoreless appearances, but it's clear that he's not quite himself. A.J. Ramos is next in line should the team decide to make a change.

Cishek notched his third save of the season Tuesday, giving up one hit and fanning two over one inning against the Nationals. He has now made it three straight outings without giving up a run, allowing just threee base-runners over that stretch while compiling two saves and a win. Cishek picked up a win on Friday night after entering a tie game in the ninth inning, and enjoying his mates walk-off victory. He worked around one hit in the top of the ninth, but did not walk anyone or record any strikeouts. He has had his share of troubles early in the year, but has now logged a pair of scoreless outings to bring his still ugly ERA down to 8.64 on the year.

Cishek bounced back with a successful save Tuesday against the Mets, working around a walk in a scoreless inning. It wasn't the most impressive outing for Cishek, but it was an important game for him after the three-run homer he gave up to Daniel Murphy on Monday. The Marlins seem committed to the sidearmer as their closer, and his case was aided by A.J. Ramos giving up three runs in the seventh inning Tuesday.
