According to Jim Bowden of ESPN.com, the Yankees, Red Sox, Cardinals, Athletics and Tigers are among the teams that are "in" on Stephen Drew "as of this hour." It's the same list of clubs that we've heard about for a few weeks now. Bowden notes that the Yankees are "seriously concerned about the declining range of both Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez," while the Red Sox are "not sure Jose Iglesias' bat is ready." The Cardinals are confident that Rafael Furcal's elbow will be OK, but they would like some insurance at shortstop and would likely sign Drew to stay around after Furcal's deal runs out. If the Tigers bring on Drew, they would ship Jhonny Peralta elsewhere, perhaps to the D'Backs.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Tigers are interested in free agent shortstop Stephen Drew on a short-term deal. This confirms a report by Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com from earlier this month. Adding Drew to the fold would open up trade possibilities for Jhonny Peralta, who has garnered interest from the Diamondbacks. The Yankees have also been mentioned as a possibility for Drew.

According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Tigers and Yankees have expressed interest in Stephen Drew. The Red Sox are also known to be kicking the tires. Drew batted just .223/.309/.348 in 79 games this summer between the Diamondbacks and Athletics, but he has decent career numbers and once hit 21 homers in a season. Teams are obviously viewing him as a low-risk, high-reward type of free agent signing.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe hears that the Red Sox have some interest in Stephen Drew. The Sox figure to be linked to just about any shortstop that's available via free agency or trade. Asdrubal Cabrera also reportedly has piqued their interest. Drew might be looking to sign a short-term deal in hopes of re-establishing his value after a couple injury-shortened, lackluster seasons.

Athletics assistant general manager David Forst confirmed that the club plans to continue negotiating with Stephen Drew. The A's declined the $10 million mutual option on Drew's contract for 2013 on Monday, but that won't have an impact on their efforts to bring him back. "I think we have reason to be optimistic, but free agency has a way of changing the equation, so we'll pursue all options," said Forst. Drew, who turns 30 in March, batted .250/.326/.382 with five homers and a .707 OPS in 39 games with the Athletics.

Athletics declined SS Stephen Drew's $10 million mutual option for 2013. Drew will hit free agency and receive a $1.35 million buyout. The 29-year-old got off a to a slow start after returning from ankle surgery, but looked a bit more like himself after joining the Athletics in August. The A's recently dealt Cliff Pennington to the Diamondbacks in the Chris Young deal and don't have a clear alternative at shortstop, so there's still a chance Drew could return even though the option was declined.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Stephen Drew could be a fit with the Tigers in free agency. Heyman writes that Drew could offer more range at shortstop than Johnny Peralta, which would help with Miguel Cabrera playing the hot corner. Drew's contract includes a $10 million mutual option for next season, but the Athletics are likely to decline their part. Meanwhile, Peralta's deal includes a $6 million club option for 2013 or a $500,000 buyout.

Stephen Drew went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Rangers. The four-hit night was just Drew's second of the season, though both have come in the past four days. Drew is now batting .270/.329/.405 as an Athletic after hitting a miserable .193/.290/.311 in 155 plate appearances as a Diamondback, and appears to be stabilizing just in time for free agency. Still, Drew will turn 30 in March, and was the owner of an 85 OPS+ going back to last Opening Day heading into play on Wednesday. Agent Scott Boras will have his work cut out for him.

Stephen Drew went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers. Both knocks were singles, while Drew also struck out twice. Drew is hitting just .226/.288/.355 in 104 plate appearances since arriving in Oakland. Assuming the A's buy out Drew's 2013 option, he'll be an interesting case on the free agent market. Entering play Wednesday, his OPS+ was an abysmal 81 since last Opening Day.

Stephen Drew hit his first homer for the A's as part of a 3-for-4 game against the Red Sox on Sunday. Drew also doubled. It was just his second three-hit game in 51 games for the year. He's batting .262 with six walks in 11 games for Oakland.
