Manaea was pulled after just two innings Wednesday due to left shoulder tightness, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Something was obviously up with Manaea, as his velocity was noticeably down from his normal 93-95 mph range, sitting around 90 mph for most of the night. He exited after just 34 pitches, giving up three runs (all in the second inning) on four hits while striking out one. It's unclear how serious the injury is at this point, but a trip to the DL -- however brief -- wouldn't be surprising. Consider him day-to-day for now, but status should be updated once the Athletics provide more information.

Manaea (1-1) notched six strikeouts and gave up an earned run on five hits and three walks over six innings Friday's 3-1 win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
The young lefty notched 11 swinging strikes and kept the ball down when contact was made, recording eight groundball outs. Control remains an issue even in victory, however, as Manaea issued multiple free passes for the fourth time in as many starts. He did remain stingy with the long ball, and has now surrendered just one home run over his first 22.1 innings this season. He's settled down overall after some rough stretches in his first pair of starts, giving up just three runs (two earned) over his last 11 innings while lowering his ERA from 7.15 to 4.43 over that span. He'll look to keep it going in a road start next Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Manaea (0-1 ) allowed two runs, one of which was earned, on no heads and five walks while striking out six across five innings to earn the win Saturday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea left this game with a comfortable 5-2 lead, but the bullpen fell apart in the seventh inning, erasing a potential win for the lefty. After a pair of rocky starts to begin the season, the fact he held the Astros hitless does little to disguise the fact he walked five batters, leading to a pair of runs in what amounts to another rough performance. Although the youngster has the potential to break out in a big way, he's currently someone who's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Mariners.

Manaea (0-1) racked up 10 strikeouts and gave up six runs (five earned) on three hits, two walks, a wild pitch and a hit batsman over 5.1 innings in Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
It was the ultimate mixed bag for Manaea, who threw 86 pitches but also compiled a whopping 22 swinging strikes. However, he surrendered a three-run home run to Joey Gallo in the second and then left the bases loaded for Frankie Montas upon exiting in the sixth. Manaea was charged with two more runs after Montas promptly issued a bases-loaded walk to Robinson Chirinos and an RBI single to Gallo. The 25-year-old Manaea has struggled with his efficiency over his first two outings, throwing 178 pitches over a combined 11.1 innings. He'll try to bounce back in a home start against the Astros next Saturday afternoon.

Manaea gave up four runs on five hits and two walks over six innings against the Angels on Tuesday. He struck out four and avoided a decision.
EDGE Analysis
A second-inning rally -- mostly a parade of singles -- accounted for the majority of the damage against him, leading to a disappointing season debut. Nonetheless, Manaea remains a key part of the Oakland rotation who ought to put up good numbers for fantasy owners, as he has strikeout stuff and does a decent job keeping the ball on the ground. If he can make strides in both those departments this year, he'll turn into a top-tier pitcher; if he can't, he'll still be usable roster filler.

Manaea fired four perfect innings in Thursday's 3-0 Cactus League victory over the Giants, striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
After surrendering six runs (five earned) on five hits and five walks over three innings against the Reds last Saturday, Manaea cruised through the 12 batters he faced Thursday. Despite is rough outing last time out, Alex Espinoza and Chris Haft of MLB.com report that the 25-year-old southpaw feels he accomplished everything he wanted to in spring training. "Came into spring and I just wanted to be more consistent with everything -- mechanics, changeup, slider," Manaea said. "I felt like I definitely accomplished that. It was a little rough at the beginning, but the past two or three starts have been right where I wanted to be. Today, everything just came together."

Manaea, who gave up six runs (five earned) on five hits and five walks over three innings in Saturday's 11-6 split-squad loss to the Reds, was unconcerned with his rough outing, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports. "Just trying to nibble too much," Manaea said. "Third inning, I finally just said, 'Just throw it down the middle and let them hit it.' That's all we did. At times I just tried to be too fine and ended up walking a lot of guys."
EDGE Analysis
Manaea managed to limit all of his damage to the second inning and actually emerged from the outing very pleased with how he deployed his slider. He's scheduled for a final spring start against the Giants on Thursday before taking the mound on April 4 against the Angels for his 2017 regular season debut. Factoring in Saturday's outing, Manaea has a 1-1 record, 4.74 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 15:10 K:BB over 19 spring innings across six appearances (five starts).

Manaea notched five strikeouts while giving up one unearned run on three hits and a walk over five innings in Monday's 10-6 Cactus League loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea missed a lot more bats than in his last start against the Rockies, with the only run he allowed coming on an infield single. The projected No. 2 starter was so efficient he needed another 10 pitches in the bullpen to get to a pitch count of 85. The strong outing lowered his spring ERA to 2.81 and left the 25-year-old feeling optimistic about his progress as the regular season looms closer. "It felt good tonight; good slider and good changeup," Manaea said. "I'm working on refining everything."

Manaea gave up seven hits and one walk over 3.2 scoreless innings in Tuesday's 4-3 Cactus League loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old southpaw gave up plenty of contact and got a little bit of help along the way to escape the outing unscathed. Three of the hits he surrendered were infield singles, while both Gerardo Parra and Trevor Story were cut down trying to score in the first. Notably, it marked the third time this spring that Manaea threw more than two innings, and he's yet to allow more than one run in any of those appearances. "It wasn't my best day for sure, but you're going to have those during the season, and just putting up zeros when I didn't have my best stuff was huge," Manaea said. "My slider definitely wasn't working. I don't know if it was mentally or what, but I don't think I threw one for a strike today. That and fastball command; I wasn't locating at all."

Manaea (1-1) gave up one earned run on there hits and one walk over 3.2 innings in Thursday's 12-5 Cactus League win over the Reds. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
After being chased in less than two innings on account of surrendering five runs in a Saturday start against the Indians, the 25-year-old lefty bounced back with a much more encouraging outing. He fanned the side in the first and only had one major blemish, that being an Adam Duvall second-inning home run. However, with the A's having staked Manaea to a 4-0 lead in the first, he cruised through the remainder of his outing. Manaea is likely to be stretched out to at least four innings in a projected Tuesday start against the Rockies.
