Manaea was scratched from his start over the weekend against the Red Sox due to the existing back soreness. While he was able to test out the injury by playing catch in the outfield Friday, Manaea said he's still experiencing some aching, so the Athletics may choose to hold him out a little longer. With Manaea ailing and Andrew Triggs (back) seemingly in line to miss his next scheduled start, the Athletics announced Sunday that Raul Alcantara and Jharel Cotton would be promoted from Triple-A Nashville this week to join the rotation.
