Manaea (back) has been cleared to start Sept. 14 in Kansas City, the Bay Area News Group's John Hickey reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will face live hitters in a simulated game Saturday, and assuming he makes it through that without any setbacks, he'll slot back into the rotation next Wednesday. Manaea has thrown 142.1 innings this year after throwing 74.1 innings in 2015, so it would seem that he should be nearing an innings cap. However, the A's have the ability to use a six-man rotation through the end of the season, which could allow Manaea to close out his first big league campaign with a few more starts.
