The Mets transferred Manaea (oblique) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea has yet to make his 2025 debut after straining his oblique during the spring. He resumed playing catch earlier this month but appears to still be eyeing a return to the Mets in June.

Manaea (oblique) started playing catch from 60 feet Monday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea has been struggling through a right oblique strain that caused him to be placed on the 15-day injured list to begin the season. MRI results from Monday showed improvement, which prompted the veteran southpaw to resume playing catch off flat ground, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that they'll limit Manaea's throwing to 60 feet for the next 10 days and assess the 33-year-old after that.

Manaea said Friday that his strained right oblique is feeling good after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection Tuesday, Manny Gomez of NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea is still only three days into his two-week no-throw period following his injection, but the fact that he's beginning to feel better is encouraging after he had struggled with the injury for most of spring training. Once he's cleared to begin throwing, the Mets will likely build the 33-year-old back up slowly, and he'll presumably make a few rehab starts in the minors before his season debut.

Manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Manaea is still having problems with his strained right oblique and will be shut down from throwing for two weeks after receiving a platelet-rich-plasma injection, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander suffered the injury early in spring training and was able to start a throwing program in mid-March, but he apparently hasn't been able to ramp up as expected over the past couple weeks. Manaea appeared to have a chance of making his 2025 debut before the end of April, but that now shouldn't be expected to happen until at least late May.

The Mets placed Manaea on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right oblique strain, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea injured his oblique in late February and began a throwing progression in mid-March. There's no timetable yet for his return, but it's possible he is back before the end of April.

Manaea was cleared to play catch earlier this week after an MRI on his right oblique was negative, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With his oblique strain healed, the left-hander has begun his throwing progression. Manaea will need several weeks to get fully stretched out, but he could be ready to make his season debut sometime in April.

Manaea has been diagnosed with a right oblique strain and is expected to begin the season on the 15-day injured list, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea will be shut down for a couple weeks before being re-evaluated, but even in a best-case scenario he will not have time to be built back up for Opening Day. It's another blow to the Mets' starting pitching depth after it was revealed last week that Frankie Montas has a right lat strain. The club has been planning to deploy a six-man rotation early in the season, but it might now have to rethink that strategy.

Manaea agreed to a three-year, $75 million contract with the Mets on Monday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After posting a 4.73 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 67 appearances (38 starts) between the Padres and Giants during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns, Manaea bounced back during his first season with the Mets last year, generating a 3.47 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 184:63 K:BB while pitching a career-high 181.2 innings across 32 regular-season starts. He'll return to the Mets and be part of a pitching staff that has already added Frankie Montas and Clay Holmes during the offseason. Manaea will be a front-end starter for a team that reached the NLCS in 2024 and enters the 2025 season with lofty aspirations after signing Juan Soto to a record-breaking deal in early December.

Manaea rejected the Mets' one-year, $21.05 million qualifying offer Monday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was expected, as Manaea is in line to land a multi-year contract this offseason. That deal could come from the Mets, as the two sides are interested in a reunion. If Manaea signs elsewhere, the Mets will receive a draft pick. The left-hander collected a 3.47 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 181.2 regular-season innings in 2024.

The Mets extended Manaea a one-year, $21.05 million qualifying offer Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea is likely to net a lucrative, multi-year contract this offseason, and if that agreement is with another team, the Mets will recoup a draft pick. The left-hander posted a 3.47 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 181.2 regular-season innings in 2024.
