Gsellman (4-3) pitched 5.1 innings allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts in Saturday's 4-2 win over Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
This was Gsellman's third straight solid start since returning to the Mets rotation. He's allowed three or fewer runs each time out, winning his last two. Despite allowing just six earned runs in his last 18.1 innings (2.98 ERA), Mets manager Terry Collins has already said Gsellman is the odd man out of the rotation once Steven Matz (elbow) and Seth Lugo (elbow) return from the disabled list next week. Gsellman might have to wait for another injury to get back in the rotation, but his role in the New York bullpen is worth monitoring.

The Mets believe Gsellman has the stuff to close if he is indeed moved to the bullpen, Kevin Kernan of the New York Post reports. "With that sinker of his he could be like [Jeurys] Familia," according to one Met official. "We think he definitely has the ability to close. He's got the stuff and he is fearless."
EDGE Analysis
This is a complicated report to dissect, as the source is anonymous and Gsellman has not even officially been moved to the bullpen yet. Manager Terry Collins is on record of saying Gsellman will move to the bullpen when Steven Matz (elbow) and Seth Lugo (elbow) return from the disabled list. Both Matz and Lugo need one more rehab start before joining the rotation. Further complicating matters is the fact that Gsellman has been very solid in his last two starts, notching a 2.77 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and eight strikeouts over 13 innings against the Padres and Brewers. Then there is the fact that Addison Reed has done nothing to warrant a demotion from the closer's role, boasting a 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 30:3 K:BB in 26.2 innings. The idea of Gsellman closing games for the Mets is nothing more than an intriguing hypothetical for now.

Gsellman (3-3) allowed one two runs (one earned) on three hits (one homer) while walking two and striking out five over seven innings in Monday's 4-2 win over the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Earlier in the day, skipper Terry Collins said Gsellman would move to the bullpen once Steven Matz (elbow) and Seth Lugo (elbow) returned from the disabled list. Gsellman then proceeded to post his best start of the season and third quality start in nine tries. Despite two quality starts in a row, though, the 23-year-old's 6.6 K/9 and 5.75 ERA are better off in New York's bullpen.

Manager Terry Collins said Gsellman will be moved to the bullpen once Steven Matz (elbow) and Seth Lugo (elbow) return from the disabled list, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Matz and Lugo nearing a return to the big club, it looks like Gsellman will be ousted from the Mets' starting rotation, though he'll remain with the big club as a reliever for the time being. In eight games as a starter this season, the 23-year-old compiled a 6.86 ERA and 29:14 K:BB across 40.2 innings. He's compiled a 2.25 ERA across three appearances (four innings) as a reliever this year, so he could prove to be a valuable piece to a struggling Mets bullpen if he's able to turn things around.

Gselllman allowed three runs on six hits and a walk over six innings in a no-decision against San Diego on Wednesday. He whiffed three.
EDGE Analysis
He was in line to win, but stop us if you've heard this one before: The Mets' bullpen blew it. Gsellman's time as a reliever lasted just two appearances, but the team's hard up for starters right now, so he's likely to hold down a rotation spot at least until Steven Matz and Seth Lugo come back to offer reinforcements.

Gsellman will be re-inserted into the starting rotation and start Wednesday against the Padres, Matt Ehalt of NorthJersey.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gsellman was relegated to the bullpen after posting an unimpressive 7.27 ERA and .325 BAA over seven starts, but will come back to supplement a Mets' rotation riddled by injuries. He may need to prove his worth with Steven Matz (elbow) closing in on his season debut, though Tommy Milone -- who was hit for eight runs over 1.1 innings in his last start -- could be the likely casualty when that occurs. Wednesday will mark Gsellman's first career start against the Padres.

Gsellman gave up a run on a hit and a walk while recording a strikeout over an inning of work in his first MLB relief appearance Wednesday against Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
He was charged with a blown save because that run cost the Mets their 4-3 lead. Gsellman's issues have clearly not been solved by his temporary move to the bullpen, and while he's supposed to return to the rotation relatively soon, it's not necessarily clear what the Mets will choose to do if he continues to struggle.

Gsellman will have his next start skipped and will work out of the bullpen in the near-term, Wayne Randazzo or WOR NewsTalk Radio reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gsellman was originally scheduled to start Friday against the Angels, but will have spot in the rotation skipped as the Mets are able to implement a four-man rotation over the next week. The team had high hopes for the 23-year-old this season, but he's failed to meet expectations early in the year. Perhaps some time out of the rotation will help him get his mind and body right.

Gsellman may have his next start skipped and be moved to the bullpen for the next week, The New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gsellman's ERA rose to 7.07 after he took a beating in Milwaukee on Mother's Day. The Mets have an exhausted bullpen at this point, in part thanks to Gsellman's failures, so the Mets will use this opportunity to use Gsellman out of the bullpen to rest their other relievers. Ideally, Gsellman can also use some low-stress outings to get himself back on track.
