Suarez may not be ready for Opening Day due to visa issues, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez was excellent across multiple roles for the Phillies in 2021, and he spent part of the season as the team's closer. However, he ended the campaign in the rotation and completed at least six innings in six of his last eight appearances while posting an excellent 1.24 ERA in that span. Reputable Phillies prospect analyst Matt Winkelman attributed this report to Gelb, and if Suarez's absence does ultimately stretch into the regular season it will leave the Phillies with a shorthanded rotation as Zach Eflin (knee) is also likely to be sidelined to begin the campaign.

Suarez (8-5) shut out the Marlins over seven innings to claim the win Friday in the Phillies' 5-0 triumph. He scattered six hits and a walk and struck out a season-high nine batters in the outing.
EDGE Analysis
The Phillies fell short in their bid to leapfrog Atlanta in the National League East standings in the final week of the season, but Suarez proved to be a revelation for the club upon converting from the bullpen to the rotation in early August. Over 12 starts, he submitted a 1.51, 1.08 WHIP and 65:19 K:BB in 65.2 innings. Though the Phillies deliberately limited his pitch counts in some of those early starts while he was building up his workload, Suarez was a workhorse down the stretch, covering at least six frames in each of his final five starts. He's not only secured a rotation spot for the Phillies heading into 2022, but he may even be a viable SP3 option in fantasy drafts.

Suarez (7-5) picked up the win Saturday, scattering four hits in a complete game shutout of the Pirates in a 3-0 victory. He struck out seven without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old southpaw put together the best start of his career, needing only 97 pitches (63 strikes) to go the distance for the first time. Suarez faced the minimum number of batters through six innings thanks to a couple double plays, and Pittsburgh never got a runner into scoring position all afternoon. Suarez has reeled off four straight quality starts and five in his last seven outings, posting a dazzling 1.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 45:8 K:BB through 44 innings over that stretch.

Suarez (6-5) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings Monday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez allowed a pair of runs in the first inning but settled in for five scoreless frames after that. Unfortunately for him, his offense mustered just four hits against Baltimore's staff in the shutout loss. Suarez has given up two or fewer runs in each of his last six outings, lowering his season ERA to a stellar 1.60 through 90 innings. The 26-year-old southpaw is projected to face the Pirates at home this weekend.

Suarez pitched six innings while allowing two runs on six hits and a walk, striking out eight in Wednesday's victory over the Cubs. He did not factor into the game's decision.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old gave up a two-run home run to Frank Schwindel in the fifth inning, accounting for all the damage against him in this one. The eight strikeouts marked a season-high for him. Since becoming a part of the starting rotation on Aug. 2, Suarez has a 1.86 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 43.2 innings over nine starts.

Suarez allowed one run on five hits and one walk while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
This was another impressive effort from Suarez, but he had to sit back and watch as Ian Kennedy served up back-to-back long balls in the ninth to squander his win. Philadelphia's closer earlier this season, Suarez transitioned to the starting rotation when Kennedy was acquired. He's gone at least five innings in each of his last four starts, allowing a total of three earned runs with a 25:6 K:BB in his last 23 innings.

Phillies manager Joe Girardi said Suarez will make his next scheduled start Thursday against the Rockies in Philadelphia, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez turned in perhaps the best of his seven starts to date this season his last time out Saturday in Miami, when he struck out seven Marlins over five scoreless frames to come away with a no-decision. Although Suarez was sitting at only 71 pitches through five innings, the Phillies opted not to send him out for the sixth after the southpaw relayed to the training staff that he was experiencing "a little tightness" in his triceps, per Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer. The Phillies appear to have pulled Suarez early as a matter of precaution, as Girardi never expressed any doubt the 26-year-old would be ready to make his next start. Suarez shouldn't face any major restrictions in his return to the hill Thursday.

Suarez hurled five scoreless innings against Miami on Saturday, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out seven. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw put together arguably his strongest start to date, tying his season high with seven punchouts while keeping the Marlins off the scoreboard for five frames. He departed in line to pick up the win, but a late collapse by reliever Archie Bradley gave Miami a comeback victory and left Suarez with a no-decision. Suarez should be picked up in fantasy leagues in which he is still available, as he has allowed only two earned runs while racking up a 19:5 K:BB across his past 17 innings covering three starts. He's tentatively slated to take the mound again Thursday at home versus Colorado.

Suarez (6-4) earned the win Sunday against Arizona after tossing 5.1 innings of one-run ball, allowing five hits and two walks while fanning five.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez outdueled Bumgarner and delivered another impressive outing, but perhaps more importantly, he bounced back after dropping his previous outing against the Diamondbacks earlier this month. Suarez has moved between the rotation and the bullpen this season but has been effective on both roles, and he owns a blistering 1.80 ERA across his previous 10 appearances, though a 26:15 K:BB across 30 innings in that stretch suggests he still needs to work a bit more on his control and command.

Suarez dropped to 5-4 after giving up three runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out two over 4.2 innings in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez had been solid in his first three starts since sliding into the Philadelphia rotation, but a matchup with the 40-81 Diamondbacks surprisingly tripped up the left-hander. Though he did well to keep the ball on the ground -- Suarez only allowed one flyball to the 25 batters he faced -- the free passes and an untimely sequencing of hits ultimately led to his demise. On a more positive note, Suarez built up to 86 pitches Wednesday, so he could handle a more traditional starter's workload moving forward. He tentatively lines up to make his next turn during the Phillies' two-game home series with Tampa Bay on Aug. 24 or 25.
