Suarez allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out four across 4.1 innings Thursday against the Dodgers. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez had another short outing from an innings perspective, and he's now completed three, 2.2 and 4.1 innings in his three appearances as a starter. However, he progressed towards a normal workload from a pitch count perspective, as he fired 82 total pitches -- 48 of which went for strikes. Though he's allowed only one earned run across 10 innings as a starter, Suarez has handed out six free passes in that span. That will be an area he'll need to improve to both continue to prevent runs while also working deeper into starts.

Suarez didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Mets, walking three batters and striking out four over 2.2 scoreless, no-hit innings.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander chewed through his pitch count quickly and got the hook after 61 pitches (33 strikes), leaving him well short of qualifying for a win. Suarez continues to be very effective and sports a 0.98 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 47:18 K:BB through 46 innings, but until he gets stretched out further -- or gets moved back into a high-leverage bullpen role -- his fantasy value is firmly capped.

Suarez is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Mets, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Phillies have varied Suarez's role this season, but the club appears committed to trying him out as a starter at this point. In his first start of season Monday, Suarez blanked the Nationals over three no-hit innings, allowing only one baserunner on the day. Because he's still building up after recently transitioning from the bullpen, Suarez is expected to be capped at around 60 pitches Saturday. Even if he pitches well, Suarez could be hard pressed to come away with the win if he's able to work only four or five frames.

Suarez didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 7-5 win over the Nationals, walking one and striking out one over three hitless, scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Whether it's closing or starting, the 25-year-old southpaw continues to be brilliant. Suarez needed only 33 pitches (18 strikes) to record nine outs in his first start of the year, and he's been tagged for earned runs only once in 11 appearances since the beginning of July. On the season, he sports a 1.04 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 43:15 K:BB through 43.1 innings, but it may take another couple outings before he's stretched out enough to qualify for a win in his new role.

Suarez will start Monday's game and be a starting pitcher going forward, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty will throw about three innings in his first big-league start since 2018 and will build up for a larger workload. The acquisition of Ian Kennedy meant Suarez would no longer be the primary closer, and the Phillies feel he can be more useful as a replacement for the struggling Matt Moore.

Suarez (5-3) earned the win during the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Nationals after allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk across one inning. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez pitched the eighth inning, and while he allowed three baserunners, he still ended being credited with the win after Brad Miller smashed a walkoff grand slam in the bottom of the eighth. Suarez has gone just 4-for-7 in save chances this season but has allowed just two earned runs over his last 10 appearances and owns a 1.59 ERA in that span.

Suarez struck out one in a perfect third of an inning to earn the save against Atlanta on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Right-hander Aaron Nola came within one strike of a complete game Sunday, but Suarez entered with two outs in the ninth inning after Austin Riley brought the game within one run with his solo homer. The 25-year-old struck out the only batter he faced to earn his fourth save of the year. Across nine appearances since the start of July, the southpaw has notched a win and four saves with a 1.74 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 10.1 innings.

Suarez (4-3) allowed one run (none earned) on one hit across one inning to take the loss Wednesday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez entered the game with the score tied and one out in the bottom of the ninth with runners on second and third. He managed to get out of the jam without allowing a run, sending the game to extra innings. He remained in the game for the bottom of the 10th frame, when he surrendered a single that ended the game due to a runner starting on second base. Suarez has served as the team's primary closer across the last few weeks, and he's largely been successful in the role. Given that strong recent track record and his strong work in the ninth inning, this outing isn't likely to affect his ability to earn save chances moving forward.

Suarez struck out three and allowed one hit over a scoreless inning in Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Marlins en route to his third save.
EDGE Analysis
He has now logged five straight scoreless appearances and has recorded a save in three of his last four appearances, seemingly getting ahold of the closer's role in Philadelphia. Jose Alvarado and Hector Neris went unused in Friday's twin bill, while Archie Bradley logged 1.2 scoreless frames in front of Suarez in Game 1.

Suarez earned the save Sunday against the Red Sox after firing 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks while fanning four.
EDGE Analysis
It was an unconventional save for Suarez, who ended recorded the final seven outs of the game while working a 45-pitch count (27 strikes). Suarez now has two saves this season while striking out six across 3.1 innings in those two outings. However, he has gone just 2-for-4 in save chances during the 2021 season. The fact that he owns an impressive 0.83 ERA across 32.2 innings this year would seem to suggest there might be more late-inning duties for him in the future, though.
