The Diamondbacks will give Patrick Corbin some extra rest around the All-Star break. Corbin is slated to pitch on Friday and will then be slotted in as the fourth or fifth starter coming out of the break, regardless of whether he pitches in the All-Star game or not. The lefty is currently on pace to pitch 214 2/3 innings. "We'll do that, regardless (of whether Corbin pitches in the All-Star Game)," manager Kirk Gibson said. "He's at 115-plus innings right now, so he needs a little break."

Patrick Corbin surrendered five earned runs over six innings Tuesday in a loss to the Mets. It was Corbin's worst start of the season and he was handed his first loss. The left-hander struck out four batters and issued only one walk, but the Mets got a solo homer from Anthony Recker in the bottom of the fifth and then strung together multiple hits in a big rally in the bottom of the seventh. Corbin will try to bounce back next time out when he faces the Rockies at home. He's 9-1 with a 2.49 ERA.

Patrick Corbin held the Reds to one run over eight innings Saturday in a no-decision. It was a terrific outing against a dangerous Cincinnati offense. Corbin allowed only three hits and struck out five, and he would have moved to 10-0 had Heath Bell not blown the save in the top of the ninth. The Reds rallied against Aroldis Chapman to win it in the bottom half of that frame. Corbin will take a 9-0 record, 2.16 ERA and 1.00 WHIP into his next start against the Braves at Atlanta's Turner Field.

Patrick Corbin hurled eight innings of two-run ball in a no-decision against the Marlins on Monday. He gave up just two hits, striking out seven and walking one. Corbin was outstanding outside of a two-run mistake Giancarlo Stanton deposited into the left-field seats in the seventh. Corbin remains a perfect 9-0, to go with an outstanding 2.28 ERA and 1.01 WHIP, but Monday marked the first time Arizona has lost one of his starts. The Snakes are now 13-1 with Corbin on the mound in 2013.

However, Arizona remains a perfect 13-0 with him on the mound.
