He may have been running out of steam -- the A's strung together three straight two-out knocks after having recorded just two hits across the first five frames -- but it was nonetheless another strong outing by the veteran southpaw, who has allowed three or fewer runs in each of his past five starts. Corbin has a strong 2.54 ERA and 28:6 K:BB over 28.1 innings during that stretch, suggesting that his improbable bounce-back campaign at the age of 36 may be sustainable. He's at a 3.78 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 19 starts on the season after finishing with an ERA of no better than 5.20 in each of his previous four campaigns.

Corbin took a no-decision Friday against the Tigers, giving up three hits and two walks in 5.2 scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Corbin remains a stable source of length for the Rangers, having now tossed at least five innings in 14 consecutive starts and 16 of his 18 outings this year. Additionally, the veteran left-hander has fanned at least six in five of his last seven appearances. Corbin will bring a quality 3.91 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 80:29 K:BB over 99 frames into his next scheduled start at home versus the division-rival Athletics, who have a weak .625 OPS versus left-handed pitching since the start of June.

The Rangers led 9-0 after three innings, though Corbin gave some of the lead back when he allowed a two-run home run to Taylor Ward in the fifth. This was Corbin's second straight win, and he's allowed a modest seven runs over his last 17 innings while posting a 15:4 K:BB in that span. For the season, the southpaw has a 4.15 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 74:27 K:BB across 93.1 innings over 17 starts. He's allowed three runs or fewer in 15 of his outings, and this has been the steadiest he's looked since 2019.

Corbin (5-7) earned the win against the Padres on Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three batters over six innings.

Corbin served up a two-run homer to Jake Cronenworth in the second inning, but that was the only time the Padres scored against him. The veteran lefty wasn't dominant, recording just nine whiffs and three punchouts, but he picked up his second straight quality start and fifth overall this season. Corbin is by no means a Cy Young contender, but he's been a pleasant surprise for Texas in his inaugural campaign with the club. After posting ERAs north of 5.00 each of the previous four seasons, he's at a more tolerable 4.18 ERA across 16 starts this year.

Corbin picked up his second quality start of June and his fourth such outing all season. The southpaw gave up all three runs on a double by Gary Sanchez in the third inning. Corbin surrendered 17 runs over 29 innings in June, losing three of his five starts in the process, so it's been a tough go of things for him lately. Overall, he's at a 4.26 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 65:24 K:BB through 82.1 innings across 15 starts. He's projected for a road start in San Diego this weekend.

Corbin (4-7) allowed five runs on nine hits over five-plus innings Monday, striking out six and taking a loss against Baltimore.

Corbin gave up one run through four innings before Jackson Holliday ripped a three-run shot in the fifth. Corbin then loaded the bases without recording an out in the sixth inning but Baltimore only scratched across one run after he was removed. He produced a surprising 3.13 ERA through his first six starts this year but has since registered a 5.04 ERA over his last 44.2 frames (eight appearances). Corbin now owns a 4.24 ERA and a 59:23 K:BB for the season. It's unclear when his next start will be, as Jacob Latz will make a spot-start Tuesday and Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) is expected to return from the injured list later this week.

Corbin (4-6) took the loss against the Royals on Wednesday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts over five innings.

Corbin allowed all four runs in the third inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Maikel Garcia. While the veteran southpaw has just three quality starts this season, Wednesday marked the first time in 13 outings that he surrendered more than three earned runs. He'll carry a 3.91 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 53:23 K:BB across 71.1 innings into a road matchup with the Orioles next week.

Corbin (4-5) earned the win Thursday over the Twins, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.

After taking a loss despite throwing a complete game in his last outing, Corbin had much better luck Thursday -- the Rangers jumped out to a 6-1 lead thanks to a five-run second inning, ultimately cruising to a 16-3 victory. The 35-year-old Corbin has yet to allow more than three runs in a start in what's been an impressive bounce-back campaign. His ERA sits at 3.66 with a 1.22 WHIP and 49:21 K:BB across 12 starts (66.1 innings). Corbin is currently slated to face the Royals at home in his next outing.

Corbin (3-5) took the loss Friday, giving up two runs on five hits over eight innings as the Rangers fell 2-0 to the Nationals. He struck out two without walking a batter.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran lefty was locked in against the team with which he won a World Series ring back in 2019, but Corbin got no run support. He tossed a complete game on 89 pitches (60 strikes). After posting an ERA north of 5.00 in four straight campaigns before leaving Washington, Corbin's having an impressive comeback in Texas, delivering a 3.52 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 43:18 K:BB over 61.1 innings. He'll look for his first win since May 14 in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Minnesota.
