Corbin's tenure meant he had to agree to being sent down, which he did so that he could continue to build up stamina after signing with the Rangers last week. He is slated to make two starts in the minors, with the goal of joining the Rangers' rotation April 11 against the Mariners.

Corbin's had a busy seven days. He signed with the Rangers last Tuesday but didn't join the team until Sunday, after the birth of his third child. The left-hander is not sure when he would be ready to compete in game action. His signing came about after the Rangers lost two starters -- Jon Gray (wrist) and Cody Bradford (elbow) -- to injury. Rookie hurlers Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker are poised to enter the rotation for now, but Corbin could be an option at some point in April. Given that three of Texas' projected starters are coming off Tommy John elbow surgery and will likely need innings management, Corbin's addition is prudent.

Corbin will not join the Rangers in Arizona for the final few days of camp as he awaits the imminent birth of his child, but he will meet the team in Texas, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Corbin inked a one-year deal with Texas on Tuesday, but his first game action with the new club will have to wait. The Rangers wrap up their Cactus League schedule March 22 before heading home to Arlington to play two exhibition games against the Royals on March 24 and 25.

The rumor mill was pretty quiet on Corbin throughout the offseason, but he secured a big-league deal with Texas, as Jon Gray (wrist) and Cody Bradford (elbow) are facing extended absences. Corbin has rated as the worst regular starting pitcher in baseball over the past four years and finished the 2024 campaign with a 5.62 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 139:54 K:BB across 174.2 innings. The left-hander brings some veteran stability to a depleted rotation with at least 31 starts in each of those four seasons, but he isn't likely to be fantasy relevant given his recent track record.

Corbin didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Kansas City, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

Corbin surrendered a homer to Hunter Renfroe in the second inning before the Royals tacked on three more runs with five straight singles in the third. The left-hander's now allowed 17 runs in over his last 21.2 innings. Corbin will wrap up the season at 6-13 with a 5.62 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 139:54 K:BB across 32 starts (174.2 innings).

Corbin did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Cubs on Thursday, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk over 4.1 innings while striking out four.

EDGE Analysis

Corbin struggled early and often against the Cubs' lineup, giving up one run on three singles in the opening frame before then coughing up a two-run homer in the third. The veteran lefty was later relieved by Derek Law with one out in the fifth after the former allowed the first three batters to reach. Corbin did generate 12 swings and misses on the night, though it marked the first time he's failed to make it through five innings since Aug. 16 against the Phillies (span of five starts). He now carries a 6.14 ERA in September through four outings to go along with a strong 23:5 K:BB.

Corbin (6-13) earned the win against the Marlins on Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with six strikeouts over six innings.

EDGE Analysis

Corbin tossed three 1-2-3 innings and allowed just one extra-base hit while generating 11 whiffs on 94 pitches. Despite enduring a seven-run disaster Sunday, the southpaw has yielded two earned runs or fewer in four of his past five outings with three quality starts. On the season, he owns a 5.45 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 132:52 K:BB across 165 innings and lines up to face the Cubs next week.

Corbin (5-13) took the loss Sunday, allowing seven runs on 10 hits over six innings against the Pirates. He struck out five.

EDGE Analysis

Corbin entered the contest having allowed three runs total while accumulating wins in each of his last three starts but allowed four runs in the first and seven total over his six-inning performance. The seven runs allowed represented the second time since mid-June that he's allowed more than four runs in a start. Corbin's next opportunity to eat innings for the Nationals is tentatively slated to take place at home against the Marlins.

Corbin (5-12) earned the win Tuesday over the Marlins, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.

It's the third straight win for Corbin, who's allowed just three runs over 17.2 innings while racking up 22 strikeouts in that span -- the left-hander had struggled to an 8.51 ERA in his previous five outings. Overall, Corbin's lowered his ERA to 5.41 on the year with a 1.52 WHP and 121:51 K:BB across 153 innings. He'll look to keep the momentum going in his next start, currently scheduled for this weekend in Pittsburgh.

Corbin (4-12) earned the win Tuesday against the Yankees, pitching six scoreless innings while allowing two hits and two walks. He struck out six.

EDGE Analysis

With this 104-pitch effort, the 35-year-old has posted consecutive wins for the first time since Aug. 2023. Corbin generated a convincing 13 whiffs en route to his six punchouts, as the Yankees lineup was flummoxed by his slider and sinker, which caused five swings and misses apiece. Despite another rough year from the veteran southpaw, he finishes out a decent August, going 2-1 with a 3.76 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB in 26.1 innings across five starts. Corbin is tentatively scheduled to make his first start of September against the Marlins in Miami next week.
