Nathan Eovaldi was touched up for five runs over six frames in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs. He was doing just fine until the sixth, but the Cubs broke out that inning with four hits -- including a three-run homer from Nate Schierholtz -- and four runs. He gave up nine hits on the day but didn't walk anyone and struck out two. Eovaldi has now put up two straight clunkers, but they followed a string of four straight great outings. He'll take a 3.76 ERA into Philadelphia next week.

Nathan Eovaldi held the Braves to two runs over eight innings but took a no-decision in a loss Sunday. He struck out four while allowing six hits and walking no one. Eovaldi had thrown just 98 pitches but was pulled before the ninth in favor of Steve Cishek, who served up a two-run homer. The right-hander has posted three straight quality starts after his hiccup in San Francisco last month to lower his ERA to 3.24. He gets the Cubs on the road next weekend.

Nathan Eovaldi picked up his third win of the season, allowing three runs (one earned) in six innings against the Phillies on Wednesday. Eovaldi was in trouble early, allowing two runs in the first inning, but the Marlins provided him plenty of offense. The right-hander allowed ten hits and a walk while striking out only two. It's the third start in a row in which he has struck out three or fewer, but the results are still there. Eovaldi owns a 3.41 ERA and a 1.29 ERA, which he'll take into next week's start on the road against the Nationals.

Nathan Eovaldi suffered through his worst start of the season Thursday against the Giants, coughing up six runs on nine hits over 4 1/3 innings. He whiffed two and walked a pair. Eovaldi has been one of the most added players in fantasy baseball over the past two weeks. He entered this evening with a 2.86 ERA, sporting terrific peripherals that legitimized his early success. Eovaldi mercilessly pounded the strike zone with his high-octane heater and keep-you-honest slider early on, so it's no surprise he's struggled in his past two outings while regressing to a 5/6 K/BB ratio. Eovaldi's fantasy stock is volatile right now, but it's simply too early to jump ship if you're a mixed leaguer. Eovaldi, 2-2 with a 3.62 ERA and 1.23 WHIP, gets the Phillies next.

Nathan Eovaldi didn't factor into the decision against the Mets after allowing three runs in seven innings and striking out 10 on Monday. Eovaldi had quite a hiccup early on the game, surrendering homers to Daniel Murphy and Curtis Granderson in the first, but he was plenty strong the rest of the way. He topped his previous career high for strikeouts by two and dropped his season ERA to 2.78. He's walked just six in 45 1/3 innings this year, a huge improvement from last year's 40 BB in 106 1/3 innings. It's a big reason why he's become such a better bet in mixed leagues.
