Eovaldi allowed three runs on eight hits with a walk and a strikeout in 5.1 innings of Friday's loss to the Red Sox.
Eovaldi had his moments in this one, hitting 101 mph in the first inning, but also had trouble with his control at points with two wild pitches and a hit batsman. He was spared the loss thanks to Chase Headley's two-out ninth inning home run, and figures to get his next start Wednesday against the Orioles.

Eovaldi pitched three scoreless innings, striking out five, in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays.
Eovaldi, who was traded to the Yankees in December, is in line to slot in at the back end of the rotation at least until Ivan Nova returns from as he recovers from Tommy John surgery. The 25-year-old has looked impressive in two spring league appearances, with a 1.80 ERA without issuing a walk. If he gets off to a strong start this season, Eovaldi should be able to hold onto his rotation spot even after Nova comes back.

Eovaldi agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Yankees on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
The hard-throwing right-hander gave up 223 hits last season, most in the NL, and finished with a rather unsightly 4.37 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 199.2 innings. However, his FIP was 100 points lower than his ERA and he improved his swinging-strike rate to 8.4%. Moreover, Eovaldi has a below-average 32.9% flyball rate for his career, so there's reason for optimism heading into his first season with the Yankees.

Eovaldi was traded to the Yankees on Friday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
Eovaldi finished the 2014 campaign with a 6-14 record with 4.37 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 142 strikeouts over 199.2 innings. He will join the Yankees' rotation in 2015, though it's unclear exactly where he will slot in.

Eovaldi was a tough luck loser in his final start of the season, limiting the Nationals to just two runs over seven strong innings to drop his record to 6-14 on the year.
Eovaldi walked three and struck out five, allowing eight hits over the seven frames. The hard-throwing right-hander closed the season with back-to-back quality outings that both resulted in losses. Despite losing each of his last eight decisions, Eovaldi took a significant step forward in 2014, posting a 4.37 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 142 strikeouts and 43 walks over a career-best 199.2 innings pitched. Eovaldi appeared to wear down a bit in the second half, but will be primed improve on his solid campaign as the Marlins' No. 3 next season.

Eovaldi was hammered for six runs over 4.1 innings pitched in Tuesday's loss to the Mets.
Eovaldi has failed to make it through the fifth inning in each of his past two starts and watched his ERA spike to 4.48 over 186.2 inning pitched this season. He's crumbled in the second half, posting an unsightly 6.04 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 67 innings since the All-Star break compared to a 3.61 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 119.2 first-half frames. Eovaldi has already exceeded his 2013 workload (127 IP between the majors and minors) by 59.2 innings and it appears that the increase is impacting his performance on the mound. While no official announcement has been made, it would not be surprising if the team decided to limit his workload over the final weeks of the season.

Eovaldi lasted just four innings at Milwaukee on Thursday, giving up four runs and eight hits.
Eovaldi didn't allow a run in the first inning, but he was in trouble from the onset, and was ultimately pulled after throwing just 70 pitches. It seemed like he had turned things around as of late, making a quality start in five of his previous seven outings. He could make two starts next week, although Miami's rotation has yet to be set with the return of Henderson Alvarez (oblique) on Friday.

After surrendering 11 runs (10 earned) on 19 hits across 8.1 innings during his previous two starts, Eovaldi rebounded with an encouraging performance Sunday evening.
