Mike Trout will not play for Team USA in the upcoming 2013 World Baseball Classic. Trout informed the WBC committee that he wouldn't be participating before he was even asked. The 21-year-old outfielder will enjoy a regular offseason routine before looking to improve upon his amazing rookie campaign.

Mike Trout was named the 2012 AL Rookie of the Year by the Baseball Writers Association of America. It was a unanimous choice. Trout batted .326/.399/.564 with 30 home runs, 83 RBI and 49 stolen bases in 139 games this summer for Anaheim while playing superb defense in center field. A's outfielder Yoenis Cespedes finished second in the voting and Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish came in third. Bryce Harper was awarded Rookie of the Year honors in the National League.

The Angels' Mike Trout, the Athletics' Yoenis Cespedes and the Rangers' Yu Darvish have been announced as finalists for the American League Rookie of the Year award. Cespedes and Darvish both had fine rookie campaigns, but Trout is the obvious choice here. He's in the running for AL MVP after batting .326/.399/.564 with 30 home runs and 49 stolen bases. The winner will be announced on November 12.

Mike Trout went 4-for-5 with a triple, a double and three RBI as the Angels beat the Mariners 8-4 on Monday. The Angels were eliminated from postseason contention anyway, courtesy of Oakland's win over Texas. Trout had some big hits against Felix Hernandez, pushing his average back up to .325. He has the best shot of anyone of preventing Miguel Cabrera from winning the Triple Crown. Cabrera has a .329 average after collecting four hits of his own tonight.

Mike Trout homered and tripled, leading the Angels to a critical 7-4 victory over the Rangers in Texas on Friday night. He finished the night 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Though he's been slumping a bit as of late, Trout is still having perhaps the finest rookie season in league history. Through 134 games, he's hitting an absurd .321/.391/.555 with 29 homers, 125 runs scored, 79 RBI and 47 steals. He's surely to wind up as a top-three draft pick in the majority of next season's fantasy drafts.

Mike Trout doubled and homered in Friday's win over the White Sox. Trout doubled in the third before getting Brian Omogrosso for a solo blast in the seventh. The home run was his 28th of the season, while the run scored was his 120th. Only three other rookies in league history have crossed home plate at least 120 times. Hitting an absurd .326/.395/.560, Trout's race with Miguel Cabrera for the American League MVP should come down to the wire.

Mike Trout hit his 26th homer and took away a Prince Fielder homer Saturday against the Tigers. Fielder's homer was going to be meaningless in the ninth inning of a 6-1 game, but we're sure Trout had fun robbing him anyway. Trout's own homer was a leadoff shot in the bottom of the first off Justin Verlander.

Mike Trout had three hits, including a monstrous solo homer and a game-tying RBI single, helping to lead the Angels to a 6-5 victory over the Red Sox on Tuesday. Trout finished the night 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI. He got the Angels offense started with a bang, launching the longest home run of his professional career off Clay Buchholz to lead off the first inning. He then delivered a clutch RBI single to tie the game at 5-5 in the ninth before Torii Hunter's sacrifice fly walked them off. Trout continues to post mind-boggling numbers, hitting .340 with 25 homers, 101 runs scored, 74 RBI and 41 steals on the season. He's quickly becoming the consensus number one selection in next March's fantasy drafts.

Mike Trout hit a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Rays. He took Matt Moore deep in the fourth. The Angels failed to win a single game of their four-game tilt with the Rays, but it wasn't because of Trout, who finished the series 6-for-15 with three extra-base hits and four RBI. The MVP contender is hitting .343/.405/.608 to go along with 52 extra-base hits, 70 RBI, 96 runs and 39 stolen bases through 99 games.

Mike Trout went 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and a steal against the Rays on Saturday. So much for Trout's slump. He's "only" hitting .299 with five homers, 14 RBI and eight steals in 17 games this month.
