A source tells MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez that the Angels and Mike Trout are finalizing a six-year contract extension worth slightly more than $140 million. Such a deal would buy out Trout's three years of arbitration and his first three years of free agency. A deal with similar parameters had been discussed earlier this spring. It's fitting that the deal would come shortly after Miguel Cabrera's record-setting extension with the Tigers, as the two have seemingly been linked every step of the way for the past two years. The Angels have yet to confirm that a deal is in place.

Mike Trout had another great day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and a two-run home run against the Royals on Thursday. The homer was Trout's fourth of the spring, and the two-hit outing brought his Cactus League average up to .400. He's ready for the regular season, it seems.

Mike Trout went 1-for-2 with a solo home run against the White Sox on Wednesday. Trout blasted his third homer of the spring off of Erik Johnson in the fifth inning. Ho-hum, just Mike Trout being Mike Trout.

Mike Trout has vowed to be more aggressive early in the count this year in an effort to cut down on his strikeouts. As if Trout needed to do anything else to be even better at the plate, he continues to look for ways to improve his game. He whiffed 136 times in 2013 while walking a league-best 110 times. Thus far in Cactus League play, he has fanned only four times in 32 plate appearances.

Mike Trout smashed his second home run of the Cactus League season as the Angels played the Rockies to a 4-4 draw on Saturday. Trout's solo homer off Juan Nicasio in the fifth inning was his only hit in three at-bats on the afternoon. He's now slashing .433/.469/.800 with a pair of homers and 11 RBI this spring, and looks like the surefire number one selection in most fantasy drafts.

Mike Trout said Thursday that he will not set a deadline for extension talks with the Angels. The two sides are reportedly discussing a six-year deal in the $150 million range, and Trout said he's willing to keep talking into the regular season if that's what it takes to get something done. "It doesn't matter to me," said Trout. "Nothing bothers me. I go out there and play, man. I don't worry about any of that stuff." Trout is batting .444/.464/.741 with one homer and nine RBI this spring.

Mike Trout went 1-for-3 with an RBI double as the Angels were defeated by the Mariners 10-6 on Tuesday. Trout's double came in the second inning, part of a three-run frame for the Halos. He is now hitting .400 in the Cactus League thus far. It's safe to say he'll be in the running for all kinds of hardware at the end of the season and will be selected first overall in most fantasy leagues.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Mike Trout and the Angels are continuing to discuss a six-year extension and the sides are "maintaining a clear sense of optimism that something will eventually get done." Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan first reported last month that the two sides were discussing a six-year deal in the $150 million range, and Heyman says those are still the parameters. A six-year deal would buy out Trout's first three years of free agency but still allow the outfielder to hit free agency again at the age of 29.

Mike Trout went 2-for-3 with a run scored on Tuesday against the Rangers. Trout is now hitting a cool .500 in the early going. Nothing too shocking from the two-time AL MVP runner-up.
