An MRI taken Wednesday on Mike Trout's sore back showed only inflammation. That's fantastic news for the Angels and Trout's fantasy owners. The 22-year-old superstar is not in Anaheim's starting lineup on Wednesday night, but he is fully expected to avoid a 15-day disabled list stint. The Angels are calling him "day-to-day."

Mike Trout (back) will undergo some tests Wednesday. Angels manager Mike Scioscia wouldn't reveal what those tests will be exactly, but the club is trying to get a handle on a back injury that's bother Trout for several days. "Were going to take half a step back," Scioscia said. More will obviously be known about how long Trout might be sidelined after the tests are performed. Fantasy owners are holding their breath.

Mike Trout left Tuesday's game versus the Astros with mid-back discomfort. It's the same injury that kept him out of action for two games over the weekend. Trout underwent stem cell therapy on his back during the off day Monday and returned to action Tuesday but lasted just 1 1/2 frames before being pulled. More should be known about his status after the game, but it's possible the game's best player is headed to the disabled list.

Naturally, the assumption is that his back is giving him trouble again, but more will be known soon when the Angels provide an update.
