Mike Trout hit a walk-off three-run homer in the ninth inning to send the Angels to a 6-5 victory over the Rays on Thursday.
The Angels' offense scuffled for most of the night, but woke suddenly in the last frame facing a 5-2 deficit. Three straight reached off Tampa Bay closer Grant Balfour, prompting Joe Maddon to summon Brad Boxberger. Trout deposited Boxberger's third offering over the left field wall to complete the frenzied rally. Trout finished 1-for-4. He's slashing .269/.357/.531 with eight homers and 27 RBI.

Mike Trout went 1-for-3 with a walk and a double as the Angels beat the Indians on Wednesday.
Trout avoided back-to-back hitless games with a two-run double in the sixth inning, padding the Angels' already-large lead over the Indians. No surprise, Trout is batting .321 and appears well on his way to being a top consideration for AL MVP again.

Mike Trout smashed his sixth home run of the 2014 season in a losing effort against the Yankees on Saturday.
He finished the afternoon 2-for-3 and swiped his third base of the season. As expected, he's off to a terrific start at the plate, hitting .313/.383/.594 with six homers and 15 RBI in his first 23 games. Fantasy owners who selected Trout at the top of drafts have to be pleased with the early returns.

Mike Trout went 1-for-5 and scored two runs as the Angels defeated the Nationals on Tuesday.
Trout struck out three times, the continuation of an uncharacteristic trend. He has now struck out in 15 of his last 38 plate appearances. His 28 percent strikeout rate on the season is well above last season's 19 percent rate. Trout has still been incredibly productive, but it's something to keep an eye on.

Mike Trout went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Opening Day against the Mariners on Monday.
Trout homered off Felix Hernandez in his very first at-bat of the season, because of course he did. The 22-year-old outfielder has been the best player in the world over the past two seasons and his 2014 is already off to a solid start.

Trout celebrated his new six-year contract, which he and the Angels announced at a press conference earlier in the day, by blasting his sixth home run of the spring off Dan Haren in the second inning. Trout finishes spring with a .414 batting average and 17 RBI to go with those six homers. He's locked in with the new season on the horizon, which doesn't bode well for American League pitchers.

The Angels and Mike Trout have agreed to a six-year, $144.5 million contract extension, according to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com.
Well that was fast. Gonzalez reported the two sides were close just minutes earlier, but apparently they were just crossing T's and dotting I's. The $24.1 million average annual value makes Trout the third Angels player, along with Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton, to earn $24 million per year on average. It's a nice payday for the 22-year-old pre-arbitration player.
