Regardless, Trout is a multi-category fantasy star and continues to produce despite a lackluster cast of characters around him.

The Angels will deploy their junior varsity lineup Wednesday, with Albert Pujols also getting the day off. Trout has now received off days in back-to-back weeks with the Angels well out of the playoff picture. Nick Buss, Shane Robinson and Rafael Ortega will patrol the outfield Wednesday.

Trout was playing for the first time since being involved in a car crash that injured two people on Wednesday, but he showed no signs of a carry-over effect, as he homered in his first at-bat to give his club the lead. He came up as the tying man in the ninth inning and sent a fly ball to deep center, but Safeco Field was just large enough to hold him to a long flyout. Trout's efforts might be underappreciated due to the Angels' poor record, but he is having another terrific season and is now up to 26 home runs, 87 RBI and 103 runs to go along with a career-high 1.005 OPS.

Trout was involved in a car accident Wednesday night, but he was not injured in the collision, and it appears he does not have any lingering effects from the crash. Trout will man center field Friday like he usually does, and will hit third in the Angels' batting order.

Trout was involved in a two-vehicle car crash Wednesday night in Santa Ana, Calif. but came away uninjured, Scott Schwebke of the Orange County Register reports. "I have spoken with Mike [on Wednesday evening] and he feels fine," Angels GM Billy Eppler said. "He is at home with his roommate and is planning on traveling with the club to Seattle [Thursday afternoon]. We will update as more information becomes available."

The accident occurred at 8:50 p.m. local time, a few hours after the completion of the Angels' 3-0 win over the Reds. Though Trout's vehicle sustained damage, he was able to escape unharmed, though two people involved in the accident did sustain injuries. Incidentally, Trout received Wednesday's game off for rest, but since he's been cleared to travel with the Angels, it doesn't look as though he'll miss any further time.

Trout has continued to dominate at the plate, as he hit .349/.486/.651 for the month of August. However, he'll have a rare night off as Rafael Ortega heads to center field. The Angels don't play Thursday, so Trout should return to his normal spot Friday when they head to Seattle to face the Mariners.

While Trout's success has come often this season, hitting .312 and stealing 21 bases in addition to the 20+ home runs, the Angels have struggled as a team, going 53-73. Despite their struggles, Trout has still managed to score 92 runs, fourth most in the MLB this season. Even on a bad team, Trout remains arguably the most consistent fantasy performer in the MLB.
