Leake (8-9) was crushed for seven runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out two in Thursday's loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Things continue to spiral downward for the 28-year-old who has now allowed six-plus runs in three straight starts. Thursday's disappointment marked the first time all season that Leake failed the last at least six innings in consecutive outings. The right-hander's 36-inning streak without issuing a walk ended when Adam Duvall drew a free pass in the sixth which set up a four-run frame for the Reds. The damage done by Leake's former team raised his ERA to 4.80, its worst mark since May 10. The good news is that he won't have to wait long to get a chance at revenge. Leake's next start rolls around Tuesday against the Reds, but this time he'll be toeing the mound at home.

Leake (8-8) evened his record in Friday's 11-6 victory over the Marlins despite giving up six earned runs on seven hits over five innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
It certainly wasn't the prettiest of performances for the veteran righty, despite the fact that he was handed a lead as large as 9-1 at one point. Leake promptly allowed that advantage to evaporate in the fifth, giving up RBI doubles to Miguel Rojas and Kelly Johnson before Martin Prado took him deep for a three-run homer. The blast led to Leake's exit after 87 pitches, and marked his second consecutive rough outing after an 11-strikeout gem against the Padres on July 18. The 28-year-old has now given upn 13 runs (12 earned) on 19 hits over his last two starts and will try to bounce back when he takes on the Reds next Thursday.

Leake (7-8) allowed seven runs, six of which were earned, on 12 hits while striking out four over six innings to take the loss Saturday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Leake was doomed by a four-run third inning along with a three-run sixth inning, leading to his eighth loss of the year. He's now allowed at least five runs in three of his last six starts, and his ERA is at 4.24 on the season. He'll make his next start Friday at the Marlins.

Leake (7-7) allowed just one run on six hits and struck out 11 over six innings in a win Monday over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
After striking out no more than six batters in a start all season, Leake now has double-digit strikeouts in consecutive starts, with 11 marking a new season high. Leake is still throwing a fastball that hovers around 90 MPH and doesn't have a premier breaking pitch, so he should return to his old control-heavy, pitch-to-contact self soon -- in seven MLB seasons, he has yet to post a K/9 of 7.0 or better.

Leake struck out 10 without walking a batter as he allowed just one run across seven innings Sunday versus the Brewers. He earned his sixth win of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Leake hadn't struck out more than six batters in any start this season, but Sunday's elevated total was boosted by a whopping 18 swinging strikes. He has alternated quality starts with poor outings over his last five, and will look to improve upon his 4.14 ERA after the All-Star break.

Leake (5-7) allowed five runs on nine hits with three strikeouts over six innings in a loss Tuesday to the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Leake hasn't had a start in which he has held an opponent to fewer than three runs since May 31 against Milwaukee. The Cardinals mostly signed Leake to eat innings, and he has done that -- he has lasted at least six innings in all but four of his starts. But fantasy owners don't get much out of Leake's empty innings -- he now has a 4.33 ERA and just 66 strikeouts in 104 innings this season.

Leake (5-6) allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on five hits and one walk while striking out four over seven innings to take the loss Thursday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Leak allowed single runs in the first in second innings, and the Cardinals were never able to overcome the early deficit. Despite giving up 38 hits in 29.2 innings of work this month, he's only walked three hitters during that span, and he has a 1.21 WHIP to go with his 4.13 ERA on the year. He'll make his next start Tuesday against the Pirates.

Leake (5-5) allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits over 3.1 innings in a loss to the Mariners on Saturday. He also struck out one and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Coming into Saturday, Leake had registered a quality start in seven of his last eight outings and dropped his ERA to 4.00. This performance raises that ERA back up to 4.25. He also has a 1.24 WHIP and just 59 strikeouts in 91 frames. His next start will be Thursday versus Kansas City.

Leake allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on eight hits while striking out five over six innings, but received no decision Sunday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Leake left the contest with a one-run lead, but the bullpen was unable to protect it in a game the Cards would go on to lose. He's now tossed quality starts in seven of his last eight outings to lower his ERA to 4.00. He'll make his next start Saturday at the Mariners.

Leake improved to 5-4 Sunday versus the Pirates, allowing three runs (two earned) with six strikeouts and no walks across seven strong innings.
EDGE Analysis
Leake was lights out aside from a rough patch in the fourth inning when all of the damage against him was done, although the rally began with an error. The right-hander was rocked in his last start, so Sunday's rebound performance was a good sign for fantasy owners and gave him six quality starts in his last seven tries. Leake will carry a 4.08 ERA into next Sunday's start versus the Rangers, which he will throw on two extra days' rest.
