Boyd will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to start one game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Indians, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd, who was banished to the minors on June 2, will serve as the 26th man in the doubleheader, meaning he'll likely head back to Toledo once the twin bill is completed. Jordan Zimmermann is in line to start the other half of the doubleheader. Since moving to Triple-A, Boyd has performed admirably, albeit against lower-caliber competition. In five starts, he's compiled a 3.00 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 32:8 K:BB over 27 innings.

Boyd is a likely option to start one of the Tigers' doubleheader games on Saturday against the Indians, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw was pulled just four innings into his Triple-A start Tuesday night, prompting speculation he was receiving a call to the majors. Boyd, who made 11 starts with the Tigers before being sent down, will get a another chance to prove his place in the big leagues after posting a 5.69 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in his earlier stint, but most likely heads back to Toledo following the outing. Jordan Zimmerman is on tap to start the other game Saturday.

Boyd was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd has had a rough season out of starting rotation for Detroit, posting a 5.69 ERA and a 1.77 WHIP over 11 starts, so he'll head down to the minors as he works out the kinks. The southpaw remains a viable option for a call-up later this season, but his 7.28 ERA over the month of May simply couldn't justify a starting spot. It remains unclear who will take his spot in the rotation, though recently-recalled Warwick Saupold represents a likely option. Reliever Daniel Stumpf was recalled in a corresponding move.

Boyd allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out just a single batter over 3.2 innings during Wednesday's win over Kansas City. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw has surrendered at least three runs in each of his past seven starts for a 6.63 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and an underwhelming 5.6 K/9. Boyd will need to turn things around in a hurry or his rotation spot could be in jeopardy, if it isn't already. He's certainly off the fantasy radar for the time being. A home start against the Angels is on deck, and without Mike Trout, Los Angeles doesn't project as a daunting matchup.

Boyd (2-4) allowed four runs on 12 hits with no walks across 5.1 innings in Sunday's loss to the Rangers. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd had no trouble finding the strike zone, posting his first outing without issuing a walk this season, but he gave up a constant procession of base-hits and was removed shortly after surrendering a solo home run to Pete Kozma with one out in the sixth inning. Boyd fired the third of a trio of quality starts earlier this month, but he has since allowed 11 runs in his last 7.2 innings to grow his ERA to 5.36. His poor 33:21 K:BB has made it difficult for him to string successful outings together, and he will look to improve on this figure Friday against the White Sox.

Boyd allowed seven earned runs in eight hits and two walks over 2.1 innings Tuesday. He struck out one in a no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
It was a tough outing for the 26-year-old southpaw, who saw his ERA balloon to 5.18 on the season. Detroit's bats took him off the hook for what would have been his third consecutive loss. The lefty now owns an unimpressive 30:21 K:BB to go with a 1.61 WHIP; it's best to keep your distance from Boyd unless the right matchup presents itself.

Boyd (2-3) allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander has now provided quality starts in five of his last six outings, but his 3.89 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 29:19 K:BB in 39.1 innings on the season leave a lot to be desired. Boyd faces a tough challenge in his next start Tuesday at home against the Orioles.

Boyd (2-2) gave up three runs on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts over 7.2 innings in Wednesday's loss to Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
He pitched well, shutting the Indians down outside of a three-run rally in the fourth inning, but Carlos Carrasco was just a bit better on the other end. Boyd has put a lot of runners on base this year, and that 23:16 K:BB is far from inspiring, yet he owns a decent 3.78 ERA. That seems destined to rise as his luck balances out, so Boyd should be started with great caution in fantasy.

Boyd (2-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five over seven innings but came away with a no-decision in Friday's 7-3 loss to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
It was the left-hander's longest outing of the season so far. Boyd pounded the strike zone, throwing 70 of 97 pitches for strikes, but still walked multiple batters for the fifth time in five starts, and his 19:13 K:BB through 25.2 innings is far from impressive. His next start will come Wednesday at home against Cleveland.

Boyd was ejected from Saturday's game in the fifth inning after throwing behind Minnesota's Miguel Sano, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Both of the benches briefly cleared Saturday following Boyd's incident with Sano, but the situation was quickly resolved. Boyd ended his outing having allowed two earned runs over 4.1 innings while notching three strikeouts and three walks. His truncated outing does not help a taxed Detroit bullpen that had to fill 3.0 innings Friday after Justin Verlander was touched up for four earned runs.
