Boyd is listed as the probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd's third start of the season will come three days later than he was initially expected after postponements Saturday and Sunday against the Yankees forced the Tigers to push each of their starters back in the pitching schedule. While the shuffling of the schedule denied Boyd of a two step last week, he'll at least trade a matchup against a powerful Yankees squad with a more favorable one at home against an Orioles offense that ranked 23rd in the majors in terms of wRC+ entering play Sunday.

Boyd will not pitch Sunday against the Yankees after Game 1 of the doubleheader was postponed.
EDGE Analysis
The night game could still happen, but in that event, Francisco Liriano will take the ball. Boyd will either start Tuesday or Wednesday against the Orioles. Sunday's night game will need to happen in order for Boyd to make two starts next week.

Boyd pitched seven innings of one-run ball in a no-decision Tuesday against the Indians. He gave up just three hits and a walk while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
Through two starts this year, Boyd has given up just two earned runs in 13 innings of work, but he's sitting at 0-1 due to lackluster run support. However, if the 27-year-old lefty keeps pitching like this, he should get into the win column soon. It's too early to fully trust Boyd after he posted a 5.27 ERA and 1.56 WHIP last season, but he's making positive strides. Up next is a tough test against the Yankees' powerful lineup on Sunday.

Boyd (0-1) was saddled with the loss Tuesday despite giving up just one run on four hits over six innings against the Royals. He struck out one batter and did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
It was far from a dominant showing, and Boyd will face much tougher opponents next week in the Indians and Yankees. That being said, for a player who had a 5.27 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 135 innings last year, this was a step forward and provided some hope that Boyd could stick in the Tigers' rotation all year. That kind of projected volume gives him some appeal in deeper leagues, but even AL-only owners will want to pick their spots carefully. Boyd is not yet a recommended option for standard mixed formats.

Boyd will make his first start of the season Tuesday against the Royals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Tigers will push all their pitchers back a day in the schedule after rainouts Thursday and Saturday creating the need for a doubleheader Sunday against the Pirates that will result in Detroit playing six games in five days. Since Boyd had initially been scheduled to pitch Monday against the Royals, he'll miss out on a two-start week with Francisco Liriano taking the hill for the series opener.

Boyd is scheduled to start the Tigers' fourth game of the regular season on Monday at home against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd was solid this spring, posting a 3.42 ERA and 26 strikeouts across 23.2 innings. However, Boyd also holds a career 5.47 ERA, so expectations should be tempered until he carries over the success into the regular season. The 27-year-old has some ability, but he's yet to put it together consistently at the MLB level. The rebuilding Tigers figure to give him plenty of chances to figure it out in 2018.

Boyd tossed three scoreless innings in Monday's Grapefruit League loss to the Nationals. He allowed one hit and two walks, while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd had allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits over his last six innings, so it was nice to see him a bit sharper on Tuesday. The young lefty dropped his spring training ERA to 4.09 with the strong performance, and he's on track to secure a spot in Detroit's rotation to begin the season.

Boyd is working on his offspeed pitches during spring training and could use them more this season, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd's hard-hit rate on curveballs and sliders last year was 13.5 percent, which was second best among qualified starters. The lefty is taking that success to heart, as he plans to diversify his pitches more and challenge hitters less frequently with his fastball. He said his slider is "definitely becoming more of a weapon for me, and something that I'll probably use a little more in the course of a game if the game dictates it more, too. I feel comfortable with it." Boyd posted a 5.27 ERA and 1.56 WHIP last season, but he's in line to secure a spot in Detroit's rotation nonetheless.

Boyd will be used as one of Detroit's starting pitchers throughout spring training, and is on track to begin the season as a member of the starting rotation, Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd is in good shape to make the starting rotation for the 2018 campaign, although Alex Wilson, Buck Farmer and Daniel Norris are also competing to earn a spot in the starting five. The 27-year old was announced as one of the starting pitchers to be used throughout spring training and tossed one inning while giving up two hits and a run Sunday against the Blue Jays. Boyd looks to start the year near the back end of the Tigers' rotation.

Boyd (6-11) allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts over five innings and took the loss Friday against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd will end his season with just one win in his final seven decisions, a struck in which he owns a 5.14 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. He gave up a pair of home runs in Friday's start, his last of the season, giving him 18 over 25 starts, a big reason why he was ineffective. Over three seasons, Boyd has yet to post an ERA below 4.50.
