He'll look to close out the season in strong form when he takes on the Phillies next Thursday.

Unfortunately for the 24-year-old Wisler, his return resembled the pitcher we saw in July rather than August. He'll look to rebound in his next start Monday on the road against the Mets.

The right-hander followed up his strong first start since rejoining the rotation by setting a career-high nine strikeouts. He's now coupled together convincing quality starts while displaying the same consistency and poise he possessed back in May when he threw six straight. Wisler's highlight of the night -- aside from the volume of strikeouts -- came in the fourth inning when he recovered with two quick punchouts after allowing a one-out solo shot to Oswaldo Arcia on a 2-2 count. He will look to maintain a similar presence atop the mound on Monday on the road against the Nationals.

Wisler (5-11) gave up a single run on two hits and three walks while striking out four over eight innings in a victorious return to the majors Thursday on the road against Arizona.

EDGE Analysis

It wasn't exactly a dominant outing with that 4:3 K:BB, but Wisler generated plenty of weak contact and kept the majority of it on the ground, as he does when he's going right. The second-year hurler gave up six runs in four consecutive starts before getting sent down in late July, so this represents a huge improvement, but it's hard to see him sustaining such success unless he can miss some more bats. He'll face the team that drafted him and dealt him to Atlanta, the Padres, in his next start Wednesday.

Wisler was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett Wednesday, and will get the start in Thursday's series finale against the Diamondbacks.

EDGE Analysis

This move is unsurprising considering the Braves sent down Tyrell Jenkins after his last start. Wisler sported a 5.16 ERA with the Braves before being optioned to Gwinnett at the end of July. The 23-year-old has since posted 3.71 ERA in 26.2 innings in the minors.
