Rays manager Joe Maddon said Monday that Matt Moore (elbow) is more likely to return during the team's upcoming West Coast trip around the end of the month. Moore indicated Monday that he was hoping to return during a series against the Angels at home next week, but Maddon said he might need two simulated games in order to regain arm strength. Look for him to return somewhere between August 30-September 8.

Matt Moore (elbow) felt encouraged after playing catch Monday. That makes back-to-back positive days for the young left-hander. Moore could throw a bullpen session Wednesday and a simulated game Saturday. Barring any setbacks, it would set him up to rejoin the Rays' rotation next week against the Angels.

Matt Moore (elbow) made 55 throws from 75 feet on Sunday and said it went "great," according to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times. Smith added that there's still no timetable for Moore's return to throwing from a mound but that he'll continue to throw daily, including another session tomorrow. The fact that he's pain-free is good news, so it seems like only a matter of time before he returns to the rotation. Moore hasn't pitched since July 28.

The Rays are hoping that Matt Moore (elbow) will be ready to rejoin the rotation by next weekend. They were originally hoping to get him back this weekend, but Moore has been pushed back after feeling some discomfort while throwing his changeup during a Wednesday bullpen session. Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times notes that the club is "confident" the soreness "won't lead to a long delay." Moore will play catch Sunday before being re-evaluated.

Matt Moore (elbow) will not rejoin the Rays' rotation this weekend. The Rays are stressing that he hasn't had a setback, but rather they're just being extra cautious. It's worth noting, though, that the left-hander admitted Wednesday that his left elbow feels "good but not great." He'll throw another bullpen session Sunday before being re-evaluated. Roberto Hernandez will remain in the rotation for now.

Matt Moore (elbow) will throw a bullpen session on Saturday or Sunday if he gets through another game of catch Friday with no issues. Moore has played catch twice so far this week and not had any problems. If he can progress from here on with no setbacks, he'll be in line to rejoin the Rays' rotation next weekend. The young left-hander has been out since late July with a sore pitching elbow.
