Matt Holliday belted a solo homer in Monday's World Series Game 5 loss to the Red Sox.
Holliday deposited a Jon Lester cutter over the center field fence, but just as it was in Game 1, the solo blast was the only run the Cards could muster. They managed just four hits on the night, and they didn't draw a single walk. St. Louis has been held to four runs or fewer in nine of their last 11 playoff games.

Matt Holliday went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI in the Cardinals' win over the Red Sox in Saturday's Game 3.
Holliday gave the Cardinals a short-lived two-run lead in the seventh inning with a double down the third base line that plated two. He also brought in the first run of the game with a single in the first inning. Of course, it wasn't all good -- Holliday had a chance to give the Cardinals another lead in the eighth inning with two runners on but popped out to left fielder Daniel Nava -- but he's still hitting .385/.385/.846 with four RBI through the first three games of the series.

Matt Holliday went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
The Cardinals somewhat quietly recorded 10 hits on the day, paced by Holliday's three. The biggest was a third-inning double that tied the game at 2-2. Holliday would be left stranded, but he'd later score on the Cardinals' two-run rally in the ninth off Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen. At .250, Holliday and leadoff hitter Matt Carpenter (.263) are the only Cardinals' regulars hitting above the Mendoza line through five games of the NLCS.

Matt Holliday singled and launched a mammoth two-run homer in Tuesday's NLCS Game 4 victory over the Dodgers.
Matt Carpenter got the Cardinals on the board with an RBI double in the third and Holliday then added an exclamation point with a blast that was conservatively estimated at 426 feet. It was the first hit of the series for Holliday, who added a single in the seventh. Shane Robinson also had a longball off the bench for St. Louis.

Matt Holliday was hitless in four at-bats in Monday's loss to the Dodgers.
He wasn't the only one, as Matt Carpenter and Carlos Beltran also took the collar. The Cardinals had just four hits on the night, with none of them going for extra bases. After compiling three two-hit games in the NLDS, Holliday has now failed to reach base in the first three games of the NLCS.

Matt Holliday singled and ripped a two-run homer in Monday's win over the Pirates.
Holliday's long drive over the center field wall in the sixth inning represented the only two runs for the Cardinals, but it wound up being enough. He and Pete Kozma also had singles on the day for the club's only other two base knocks. The series is headed back to St. Louis for a deciding Game 5 on Wednesday.

Matt Holliday is not in the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.
Holliday is getting some rest after dealing with an oblique injury recently, and this will also allow him to finish the season with an even .300 average. David Freese is also getting a day off.
