Matt Holliday was scratched from Sunday's lineup with lower back tightness.
Yadier Molina, who had been slated to receive a day off, has taken Holliday's place in the designated hitter spot. Holliday should be considered day-to-day for the time being.

Matt Holliday went 3-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.
Holliday also walked in the game, reaching base in all four plate appearances. The homer was the outfielder's third of the season. He typically heats up with the weather, so his .395 slugging percentage should continue to rise with the temperatures.

Matt Holliday had a rough night at the plate in Friday's loss to the Reds, going 0-for-4 and leaving five men on base.
The All-Star outfielder is off to an unusually rough start at the plate this season, hitting .261/.359/.361 with two homers and 25 RBI in his first 47 games. He hasn't hit a ball out of the yard in his last 21 games.

Matt Holliday went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Holliday had two of the Cardinals' nine hits against Bronson Arroyo -- in fact, he had the only two singles the right-hander gave up on the night. He came around to score on his first-inning single, and he drove in a run with his single in the fifth. He's heating up, having hit in five straight games. He's still looking for his third homer of the year, though, as his power stroke has gone cold.

Matt Holliday went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in as the Cardinals defeated the Braves on Wednesday.
Holliday knocked in a pair with a fourth-inning single, and brought in one more with a single in the ninth inning. That all three hits were singles is noteworthy, as Holliday has been noticeably devoid of power thus far, carrying a .392 SLG through 149 plate appearances. He has hit at least 22 home runs in each season dating back to 2006, but currently has two, putting him on pace for nine over a full season.

Matt Holliday went 3-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk in Friday's 1-0 win over the Pirates.
Holliday's run-scoring double off Gerrit Cole in the first inning was the only offense of the evening for either team. The veteran outfielder is hitting .271 with a .374 on-base percentage and 12 RBI through 23 games, but he only has one home run so far. Lack of power is a team-wide issue with St. Louis at the moment.

Matt Holliday went 0-for-4 and struck out twice Monday against the Mets.
Holliday was frustrated enough that he slammed his bat down twice on the way to first base after popping up with runners at the corners. He's currently hitting .239 with just one homer in 71 at-bats. He'll most likely be a top-25 fantasy outfielder in the end, but at age 34, decline should be settling in.

Matt Holliday hit his first home run of the season in Tuesday's win over the Brewers.
Holliday experienced an unusual home run drought to start the year, and he nearly made it 14 games before launching one off former Brewers closer Jim Henderson in the ninth inning. Maybe it's a sign of good things to come for the 34-year-old, who always seems to heat up with the weather.

Matt Holliday went 3-for-3 with two RBI as a Cardinals split-squad and the Mets played to a 5-5 tie on Friday.
Holliday is a cool 8-for-9 so far this spring. He does this every spring, though. 2006 was the last time he didn't hit at least .300 in an exhibition season. He had OPSs over 1.000 in 2007, 2008, 2010 (1.244!), 2011 and 2012.
