Holliday (back) is back in the lineup Monday, as expected, Fox Sports Midwest reports. He will bat third and play left field, after stating that he could have played Sunday, so this is no surprise. Consider him healthy moving forward.

Dealing with back tightness, Holliday was held out of Sunday's lineup as a precaution. It appears to be only a minor issue, however, so expect to see Holliday back in the fold Monday.

Holliday doesn't get many days off, so it was a bit surprising to see him held out of action with the Cardinals fighting to hang on to their division lead. It sounds like back tightness was to blame, however, so consider the outfielder day-to-day until the team provides additional information. The Cardinals open a four-game series with the Reds starting Monday, when Holliday will look to make his return.

Holliday is out of the lineup Sunday against the Brewers. Holliday hasn't had a day off since Aug. 17, so a maintenance day was likely past due. After opening the series with a three-hit game, the 34-year-old outfield is hitless in back-to-back contests, and will give way to Jon Jay in left field Sunday afternoon. There doesn't seem to be any injury in play here, so look for him to be available off the bench if needed.

Holliday went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double Monday against the Pirates. Holliday is on fire as he has 12 RBI over his last three games alone. Although he's not putting up numbers that fantasy owners have come accustomed to with him, his late season surge now has him at 16 home runs and 81 RBI with still a month left to play.

Holliday went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the Cardinals' 9-6 win over the Cubs on Sunday. Holliday's hot August continues, as he's 5-for-7 in his last two games, with three home runs. He has hit in 12 of his past 13 games. Still, Holliday is only batting .267 for the year.

Holliday went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader against the Cubs. The Cardinals beat the Cubs 13-2 and snapped a four-game losing streak. Holliday helped with his two homers and five RBI. He now has an 11-game hitting streak during which has gone 14-for-43.

Holliday was 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the Cardinals loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Holliday's thirteenth of the year was the only run of the night for the Cardinals. His .263/.364/.412 slash line is a bit lower than his owners probably expected, but he's still delivered 68 RBI this season.

Holliday went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double Monday against the Pirates. Holliday is only hitting .263 with 12 home runs this season, but he is at least still hitting doubles as he now has 31 for the season. He's going to need to really get hot down the stretch if he is going to hit at least 20 home runs for the ninth straight season.

Holliday (sore left knee) will start in left field Monday vs. the Reds. Holliday was rested Sunday both in part to a balky knee and his 0-for-18 slump at the dish, but the Cardinals are banking on the therapy day revitalizing the veteran. Normally a safe candidate to deliver 20-to-25 home runs and an average near .300 on an annual basis, Holliday is batting just .260 on the campaign and is on pace to finish with only 16 round trippers.
