Andriese, who worked a scoreless, one-hit inning in which he surrendered a walk during Sunday's 9-1 Grapefruit League win over the Yankees, has generated a 2.70 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 3.1 innings in three spring appearances.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese is slated to workout of the bullpen for at least the first month of the season with the Rays reportedly planning to go with a four-man starting rotation in April. The results thus far this spring have been right in line with the 28-year-old's typically solid work, as he's allowed one earned run on three hits over his trio of trips to the mound while compiling four strikeouts. Andriese has put in significant time as both a starter and reliever over the his three-year major-league career, logging 44 starts against 28 appearances out of the bullpen. Given prior usage, he's likely to see time in both capacities again over the course of 2018.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Sunday that Andriese would work in a multi-inning relief role through at least mid-May while the team deploys a four-man rotation, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cash didn't rule out the possibility of Andriese making a spot start or two in scenarios where a fifth starter is required due to a heavier game schedule, but it appears the right-hander isn't being considered for the No. 4 spot in the rotation that looks to be up for grabs. Though Andriese has been far more effective as a reliever in the majors (3.54 ERA, .222 batting average against in 56 innings) than as a starter (4.55, .272), his fantasy value would take a hit if he ends up sticking in the bullpen for the bulk of the 2018 season.

Andriese (5-5) landed in the loss column after allowing three runs on five hits and two walks in five innings Wednesday against the Yankees. He struck out three batters.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese looked solid through four innings before he started to run out of gas. He allowed a two-run double in the fifth to Aaron Judge before a leadoff homer in the sixth inning to Starlin Castro ended his outing. He's now allowed six homers and 19 runs in five starts (22 innings) since returning from a long-term hip injury, though he owns a respectable 21:6 K:BB over that span. The 28-year-old will finish the season with a 4.50 ERA and 76:28 K:BB through 86 innings, and a healthy Andriese should factor into the Rays' 2018 rotation plans.

Andriese (5-4) took the loss Thursday in Baltimore after allowing three runs on seven hits with one walk and eight strikeouts over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese got off to a slow start, allowing three runs in the first inning thanks to a Manny Machado two-run homer and a Trey Mancini RBI single. While he held Baltimore off the board after that, the early damage was enough to hand Andriese the loss with opposing starter Gabriel Ynoa hurling eight innings of one-run ball. He's struggled with the long ball in four starts since returning from a long-term hip injury, allowing five home runs and 16 earned runs in 17 innings. The 28-year-old righty will close out his campaign Wednesday with a tough matchup at Yankee Stadium.

Andriese allowed two runs on five hits over 4.1 innings with three strikeouts in a no-decision Friday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese hasn't gotten an out in the sixth inning since he returned from the disabled list, and he has completed the fifth just once, his first time out. This was probably Andriese's best turn through the rotation yet, which speaks to his struggles since returning from a hip injury. Seeing as the Rays are still holding on to slim playoff hopes, his starting spot may be in jeopardy down the stretch.

Andriese (5-3) allowed eight runs, six of which were earned, on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over 1.2 innings to take the loss Saturday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Andirese was battered by the Red Sox hitters, giving his team no chance to compete in this contest. He's allowed 11 earned runs over his last 6.2 innings covering two September starts, and he's trending downward as the season draws to a close. He'll make his next start Saturday against the Red Sox.

Andriese (5-2) allowed five runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five batters through five innings during Sunday's loss to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
This was Andriese's first start since June 10, as he missed a significant chunk of the season due to a hip injury. The 28-year-old righty obviously wasn't sharp Sunday, but he still boasts a respectable 3.78 ERA, WHIP and 7.8 K/9 for the campaign, so there's value in most settings -- especially in favorable matchups. Andriese lines up to face the Red Sox at Fenway Park in his next start.

The Rays are planning to have Andriese start Sunday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
After bringing Andriese back from the 60-day disabled list Monday, the Rays elected to ease the right-hander back into action as a high-leverage, multi-inning reliever, and he quickly aced his first test in that role. Andriese came on Monday to toss three scoreless innings of one-hit ball in the series opener against the Royals, notching his fourth career save. That impressive outing was apparently all manager Kevin Cash needed to see from Andriese to return him to his normal spot in the rotation. Andriese is expected to replace Austin Pruitt, who should move to the bullpen after compiling a 4.50 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in his seven starts.

Andriese picked up a three inning save in his return from the disabled list Monday against Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
Expect Andriese to serve in this kind of multi-inning relief role for at least a couple weeks, as he managed just one appearance between May 30 and Monday night's outing due to a hip injury. Andriese owned a solid 3.54 ERA and 55:21 K:BB in his 61 innings in the Rays rotation, so expect them to get him back into a starting role as soon as he's ready.

Andriese (hip) was activated from the disabled list Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese is available from the bullpen Monday night, although he figures to rejoin the Rays' starting rotation in the near future. Before hitting the disabled list, Andriese had started 12 games for Tampa Bay. During said games he went 5-1 and pieced together a 3.54 ERA and 1.31 WHIP.
