Andriese gave up three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one in Sunday's win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
His ERA went from 3.68 to 4.02 after this outing. Andriese has not gone deeper than 3.2 innings in any of his outings this season, so even when he gets the start, there's almost no chance he'll go deep enough to qualify for the win.

Andriese is slated to enter Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays in relief of starter Wilmer Font and pitch the bulk of the innings, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese followed Font in the Rays' loss Friday to the Mariners, covering 2.1 innings and giving up two runs on five hits and a walk. The right-hander has shown some cracks of late with eight runs (five earned) allowed over 11 innings spanning his last five five appearances, but he's been solid overall while transitioning to a full-time long relief role this season. He enters Wednesday's outing with a 3.58 ERA and 38:7 K:BB across 37.2 innings.

Andriese allowed two earned runs on five hits, a walk and a hit batsman over 2.1 innings in a loss to the Mariners on Friday. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese stayed away from the long ball, but he struggled overall through 48 pitches. The two runs he allowed came on relatively benign contact -- a Guillermo Heredia fielder's choice and a Mitch Haniger single. However, the fact remains that Andriese has already allowed three earned runs over his first two June outings, and multiple runs in four of his last five appearances. He figures to continue logging multiple innings in the majority of his appearances, and despite his recent inconsistency, continues to offer above-average strikeout numbers (38 over 37.2 innings in 2018).

Andriese is slated to enter Friday's "bullpen day" game against the Mariners after opening pitcher Wilmer Font, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Kevin Cash had been somewhat coy about Andriese's exact role for Friday's series opener, a game that Chris Archer (abdomen) was slated to start before his placement on the disabled list. It's now confirmed the versatile right-hander will likely enter the game fairly early on, and he could potentially find himself working a relatively extensive long-relief outing if he proves effective.

In the words of manager Kevin Cash, Andriese will "fill the gap" Friday's home game against the Mariners in the wake of Chris Archer's placement on the disabled list with an abdominal injury, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
What that phrase specifically signifies is topic for debate, given how creative the Rays skipper has been with his pitching staff this season. Andriese certainly could play the role of a traditional multi-inning starter, or he could be brought in for an extended relief stint after the opening pitcher if Cash opts to go with a "bullpen day" format. The right-hander does have the versatility to handle either role, so the exact manner in which he'll be deployed may not become known until later in the week.

Andriese (1-3) allowed an earned run on two hits over one inning in an extra-innings loss to the Mariners on Friday. He also recorded a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese entered the game in the bottom of the 12th and promptly set Jean Segura down on a swinging strikeout. He then induced an inning-ending double play from Denard Span after yielding a single to Kyle Seager, but he promptly gave up a leadoff, game-winning home run to Mitch Haniger in the bottom of the 13th. Andriese has been struggled with consistency of late, as Friday's outing marked his fifth over the last nine in which he's given up at least one run. However, his season ERA and WHIP do remain a solid 3.31 and 1.02, respectively. Moreover, the unorthodox manner in which manager Kevin Cash often deploys his pitching staff -- as well as Andriese's ability to work long relief -- could result in the right-hander being in line for a decision more often than a reliever typically would be.

Andriese fired three perfect frames in an extra-innings win over the Athletics on Monday, recording two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese played his hybrid starter/long reliever role to perfection, providing three valuable innings during the marathon win. It was the 28-year-old's third multi-inning scoreless effort overall during May, a month that's brought mixed results overall. Andriese has also allowed seven runs (four earned) across four other appearances during the month, but he's also impressed with a 17:4 K:BB across his 17.2 innings.

Andriese (1-2) allowed two unearned runs on two walks and a wild pitch over two innings in a loss to the Angels on Sunday. He also recorded two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old right-hander followed Sergio Romo after the latter started for a second consecutive day. After a mostly uneventful first 1.2 innings, Andriese struggled with his control, allowing Andrelton Simmons to reach first on an error, walking Zack Cozart and uncorking a wild pitch while facing Luis Valbuena that moved both runners over. Valbuena would eventually plate Simmons with a groundout, while Cozart subsequently crossed the plate on a Martin Maldonado sacrifice fly allowed by Jose Alvarado, a run that also went on Andriese's ledger. Despite Sunday's difficulties, Andriese has actually enjoyed a successful month, having dropped his ERA from 4.32 to 3.14 while giving up just two earned runs over 12 innings across six appearances.

Andriese (1-1) picked up the win Wednesday, tossing three scoreless innings while striking out three and allowing three hits against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese was called upon to start the second game of a doubleheader in one of Tampa Bay's "bullpen games" Saturday, but it was back to a relief role in this one. The 28-year-old has pitched decently in the long-relief spot and boasts an impressive 29:4 K:BB over 26.2 innings. The downside is that Wednesday's outing marked just his first win of the year, and it'll be tough for him to factor into decisions on a regular basis.

Andriese didn't factor into the decision in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing one run on a hit and a walk over three innings while striking out two in a 10-3 win over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
A solo shot by Trey Mancini accounted for the only run off Andriese, who threw 26 of 41 pitches for strikes before getting the hook in yet another Rays bullpen game. While the 28-year-old does have starting experience, Tampa appears content to leave him in a long relief/swing man role, and he hasn't had an outing longer than 3.1 innings this season as a result. Unless he's given a chance to stretch his arm out further, wins will likely be tough for Andriese to come by no matter how well he pitches in his rare starts.
