Andriese won't start Friday's game against the Marlins, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Andriese was expected to be one of two candidates (along with Erasmo Ramirez) to take a turn in the rotation Friday, but the Rays have decided to turn to the bullpen in Steve Geltz instead. With a relief pitcher starting the game, it's possible Andriese will make an appearance Friday, but it would be out of the bullpen if it occurs.

Andriese has made the Opening Day 25-man roster, but it's not clear if he'll be used in the rotation or the bullpen, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Both Andriese and Erasmo Ramirez made the Opening Day roster, but the team hasn't announced who will start the fourth game of the season at Miami.

Andriese is likely to hold a spot in the Tampa Bay rotation to begin the season following the acquisition of Erasmo Ramirez this week. He may still make the Opening Day roster as a reliever, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Rays manager Kevin Cash said that Andriese is in a good spot, and the team won't need a fifth starter until April 14 anyway, so it's possible that he'll work in a multi-inning relief role as the team sorts out its early-season plans with Drew Smyly (shoulder) and Alex Cobb (forearm) starting the year on the disabled list.

Andriese is a leading candidate to temporarily fill in as a member of the Rays' rotation to begin the season, the Tampa Tribune reports.
Enny Romero and Everett Teaford may also be options, along with Mike Montgomery, although Montgomery was previously moved into a relief role. Andriese and Burch Smith will likely handle the fourth and fifth spots in the rotation, while Nate Karns seems to be slightly ahead of them in the pecking order as the third option with Drew Smyly (shoulder), Alex Cobb (forearm), and Alex Colome (pneumonia) expected to miss the beginning of the season.

Andriese was added to the Rays' 40-man roster on Thursday.
The Rays added Andriese to the 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, but it's possible he'll actually see major league action next season. In 28 games for Triple-A Durham in 2014, Andriese was 11-8 with a 3.77 ERA and 129 strikeouts.
