Andriese will not be used as the starter for Thursday's game against the Yankees, 620 WDAE's Steve Carney reports. None of the Rays' options for this spot in the rotation are particularly appealing, but Erasmo Ramirez will get the nod. Andriese could be used out of the bullpen, assuming Ramirez does not make it deep into the contest.

The Rays will start either Andriese, Erasmo Ramirez or Andrew Bellatti on Thursday against the Yankees, 620 WDAE's Steve Carney reports. Andriese started against the Rangers on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He was limited to just 65 pitches, and he probably won't go much higher than 75-to-80 if he gets another start. The same may be true for Erasmo Ramirez and Andrew Bellatti, the other candidates to start Thursday's game.

Andriese struggled in his return to the Rays, going 3.2 innings and allowing five hits and two earned runs while registering just two strikeouts. No one's going to deny Andriese is an iffy pitcher with negligible fantasy value, but the season-ending injuries to Alex Cobb and Drew Smyly mean that Andriese could easily see more starts with Tampa Bay going forward. However, his career high in pitches thrown is still only 72 (he threw 65 Saturday), so it seems like his upper limit is that of a spot starter needing early bullpen backup.

Andriese will be recalled to start Saturday with Jake Odorizzi unable to take the mound due to the flu, Roger Mooney of The Tampa Tribune reports. Andriese appeared in five games, starting two, with the Rays earlier this season and posted a 5.54 ERA and 7:4 K:BB ratio over 13 innings. He has thrown a high of 72 pitches in a game this season, so he may not be used for a full starter's workload again Saturday.

Andriese has been optioned to Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Andriese had been serving as a long reliever for the Rays thus far this season, but the Rays needed to clear room on their roster to add a player Thursday. Topkin reports that Andriese's move to Durham will likely result in Alex Colome being called up to make his 2015 debut Friday.

Andriese notched a save in the Rays 12-2 win over Toronto Friday night. He allowed one run on two hits over three innings. The save was of the three inning variety as the Rays blew out the Jays so don't expect to see more saves in the foreseeable future. He has been serving as the swing man in the Tampa Bay mound corps while the Rays attempt to get their rotation regulars healthy.

Andriese started against the Yankees on Sunday and gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. Andriese has been starting with fellow starters Alex Cobb, Drew Smyly and Matt Moore on the disabled list and has been underwhelming thus far, posting a 6.75 ERA over eight innings. He is a prime candidate to lose his spot in the rotation as soon as the Rays' pitching staff gets healthy.

Andriese - as expected - will start Sunday against the Yankees, Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Andriese lasted 3.2 innings Tuesday against the Blue Jays, allowing two earned runs on five hits and a walk, adding to strikeouts. He'll take another turn Sunday against the Yankees, but his run in the rotation will likely last only as long as the other starters remain on the disabled list.

Andriese gave up two earned runs on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings Tuesday against the Blue Jays. The Rays have been scraping the bottom of the barrel to find starters to take turns in the rotation while four preferred options are all on the DL, and Andriese was just the latest to attempt to go three or four innings as the starter. If he is asked to start again the results will likely be similar.

Andriese will start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Andriese was believed to be in contention for a start Friday against the Marlins, but that went to Steve Geltz instead. He will start Tuesday, however, making his major league debut.
