Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Reds.
Byrd went to the opposite field in the sixth inning off of Tony Cingrani for his fifth homer of the season. Dating back to April 24, Byrd has logged 12 multi-hit games out of 20 and is now slashing .296/.337/.491 in 169 plate appearances. For the first time since Jayson Werth left, the Phillies are getting solid production out of right field.

Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said Thursday that Marlon Byrd is a candidate to play center field.
The Phillies obviously aren't thrilled with what they are getting out of Ben Revere so far this season, though Sandberg noted that he has seen some improvement recently. If Byrd was to get a shot in center, the Phillies could eventually potentially play Darin Ruf (oblique) in a corner outfield spot. It's not an ideal defensive alignment, but they are clearly focused on generating offense.

Marlon Byrd went 2-for-3 in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Byrd appeared to be the only one who could figure Jays starter Mark Buehrle out, getting two of the club's three hits against the lefty, including a double. Byrd has had two or more hits in five out of his last six games, and has hit safely in 10 out of his last 11 games. As a result, he's up to a comfortable .311/.344/.508 slash line.

Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 with two doubles in Tuesday's 10-inning loss to the Blue Jays.
The Phillies failed to bring in Byrd both times he was standing at second base. Byrd has quietly been a solid offensive performer, quieting skeptics who felt that his breakout season in 2013 as a 35-year-old was a mirage. Tuesday's outing boosted his slash line to .303/.336/.496 and he has four home runs and 22 RBI to go along with it.

Marlon Byrd reached base three times, going 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk in Monday's loss to the Blue Jays.
The veteran outfielder is off to a nice start with his new club, hitting .296/.331/.478 with four homers and 22 RBI. Fantasy owners who gambled late in drafts that his 2013 campaign was no fluke have to be pleased with the early returns.

Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Friday's loss to the Nationals.
Some scratched their heads when the Phillies gave Byrd a two-year, $16 million deal during the offseason, but he's been plenty productive so far. The 36-year-old has four homers and six doubles and ranks seventh in the National League with 20 RBI.

Marlon Byrd had another two-hit day, going 2-for-3 with a walk against the Rangers on Tuesday.
Byrd's reunion with the Phillies has started off well. He has reached base in half of his ten plate appearances, and he even flashed some leather in right field on Tuesday, doubling off Mitch Moreland at first base after catching a Donnie Murphy line drive. Many are expecting Byrd's offense to drop off after breaking out with a career-high 34 homers last season at the age of 35, but he'll undoubtedly be a huge upgrade in right field for the Phillies.

Marlon Byrd singled and launched a two-run homer in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Byrd deposited a hanging knuckleball over the right-field wall for an opposite-field shot in the third inning. The veteran outfielder's production will surely drop off after a surprising 2013 campaign, but he still could be worthy of rostering at the tail-end of your draft.

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Marlon Byrd could play some center field this season.
John Mayberry Jr. is the only backup capable of handling center field on the projected big league roster, which is why Philadelphia will be motivated to give Byrd some reps at the position in spring training. If Ben Revere misses significant time next season, the Phillies are going to be forced to scramble to cover themselves. Byrd was pilfered from the Pirates on a two-year, $16 million contract in November. He slashed .291/.336/.511 with 24 home runs and 88 RBI in 147 games between the Mets and Pirates in 2013.
