Gregerson struggled Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits while blowing the save and taking the loss against the Blue Jays. After enduring a rough May (5.91 ERA in 11 appearances), the 31-year-old looked strong in recent outings prior to Sunday's hiccup. With Pat Neshek (2.08 ERA), Josh Fields (2.40 ERA) and Will Harris (0.65 ERA) pitching well for the Astros, and Chad Qualls (4.43 ERA) lurking with prior closing experience, Gregerson's role likely isn't as secure as it was in April. However, manager A.J. Hinch has not given any indication that he's prepared to make a switch in the ninth inning. Consider Gregerson's role safe for now.

Gregerson fanned two during a perfect ninth inning Monday against the Orioles to earn his 14th save of the season. Gregerson needed only 11 pitches (seven for strikes) to retire Chris Davis, Steve Clevenger and Jimmy Paredes in order. After a rough stretch in May, the 31-year-old right-hander has three straight scoreless appearances for the Astros, striking out six while allowing just one base runner (a walk) during that span.

Gregerson struck out two during a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to earn his 13th save of the season. Gregerson rebounded nicely Tuesday after allowing a home run in his previous appearance Sunday at Detroit. He needed only 10 pitches to retire Chris Davis, Alejandro de Aza and Delmon Young in order. Through 21 relief appearances with the Astros this season, he has a 3.92 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 20:5 K:BB over 20.2 innings.

Gregerson will be unavailable out of the Astros' bullpen Wednesday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Gregerson pitched three of the last four days and threw at least 20 pitches in each outing, so he will be given the day to rest. That will double as a mental break with Gregerson giving up two earned runs in two of his last three appearances. It's not certain who would get the ball if the Astros end up in a save situation Wednesday, but Chad Qualls seems like the best bet.

Gregerson struggled again Tuesday in a non-save situation against the A's, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning. Gregerson entered the game in the ninth inning with Houston leading 6-2, but his former team got the best of him and narrowed the score to 6-4 before he was removed in favor of Pat Neshek. Neshek recorded the final out of the game to earn his first save of the season. While Gregerson ranks sixth in the AL with 10 saves, he's really struggled over the last two weeks with a 7.71 ERA and 2.14 WHIP during that span.

Gregerson has allowed multiple base runners in each of his last three save chances for the Astros, but he still earned his 10th save of the season Sunday against Toronto. Gregerson's 10 saves are a new career-high for a season after he logged nine as a member of the Padres in 2012.

Gregerson struggled Saturday giving up two earned runs, but managed to still grab a save in the 6-5 win over the Blue Jays on Saturday. Gregerson was the victim of a pinch-hit two-run bomb by Edwin Encarnacion and he was lucky to escape with the save as his team was up by three. With that said, Gregerson has been solid this season posting a 3.38 ERA with nine saves so far.

Gregerson (personal) is not with the team Thursday, but is expected to be back Friday, Evan Drellich of the Hoston Chronicle reports. Drellich reports that Gregerson is dealing with the same issue that landed him on the Family Medical Emergency List last week, but should remain with the team once he returns. He is still expected to be back with the team Friday and should be available if needed late in the game.

In his first back game with the Astros after dealing with a personal matter, Gregerson allowed two hits and struck out a batter during a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to earn his eighth save of the season. San Francisco kept things interesting in the ninth innings Wednesday, as Brandon Crawford led off the inning with a double, but was thrown out at third following Nori Aoki's fielder's choice. Gregerson struck out Matt Duffy for the second out of the inning, but Angel Pagan singled to center to put runners at the corners for Buster Posey. Gregerson induced a weak grounder to end the game, however, to move into seventh place among AL relievers with eight saves.
