Severino (8-11) earned the win over Houston on Wednesday, allowing three hits and issuing one walk while striking out five batters over 6.1 scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Things haven't always been smooth for Severino in his first season with the A's, but in the likely case that this was his final appearance of the campaign, he went out on a high note. The veteran righty limited the Astros to four baserunners -- two of which reached in the first inning -- and at one point retired 10 consecutive batters before giving up a double on his final pitch of the night. Severino improved his record to 8-11 after it sat at 2-11 entering the All-Star break. If this was indeed his final outing, he'll finish 2025 with a 4.54 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 124:50 K:BB over 162.2 frames spanning 29 starts.

Severino (7-11) picked up the win in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Pirates, giving up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander looked like he was headed for another rough outing when Pittsburgh ambushed him for three runs in the first inning and then banged out two hits in the second, but Severino kept his focus and avoided any further damage before being lifted after 97 pitches (64 strikes). Despite getting tagged for three or more runs in three of four September starts, Severino still hasn't taken a loss since the All-Star break. On the month, he's posted a 4.05 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB through 20 innings. He'll look to play spoiler in the race for the AL West title in his final trip to the mound this season, which lines up to come at home next week against the Astros.

Severino allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two over five innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
All of the runs on his line came on a pair of home runs, as Will Benson hit a two-run shot in the second inning and Tyler Stephenson added a three-run blast in the fourth. Severino has now allowed eight runs with a 13:4 K:BB over five innings since returning from an oblique injury. He's at a 4.82 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 116:48 K:BB through 151.1 innings across 27 starts this season. The 31-year-old's next start is projected to be a favorable road matchup in Pittsburgh.

Severino allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven over five innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Severino fell behind early, allowing a two-run home run to Jo Adell in the first inning. The Athletics were able to briefly tie the game after Severino's exit to help him avoid the loss. The right-hander has covered five frames in each of his two starts since returning from an oblique injury, though his pitch count was in the normal range (89) in this outing. Through 146.1 innings this season, he has a 4.67 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 114:46 K:BB across 26 starts. Severino is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Reds.

Severino took a no-decision Tuesday against the Cardinals, allowing three hits and one walk in five scoreless innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Severino was likely working with a workload restriction in his first major-league start since Aug. 5, although that didn't impede him from delivering his first scoreless outing since May 17 in San Francisco. The three hits allowed also matched a season best, and the veteran right-hander has now tossed at least five frames while yielding two runs or fewer four of his last five appearances. Severino has a 4.65 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 107:45 K:BB over 141.1 innings, and he'll be looking to increase his pitch count next week against the Red Sox.

The Athletics activated Severino (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Severino is set to rejoin the rotation Tuesday with a start in St. Louis after missing more than three weeks with an oblique strain. The veteran right-hander didn't make a rehab start, instead throwing a simulated game last week. It's unclear how many pitches Severino threw in that sim game, but he'll likely be under a workload restriction against the Cardinals.

Severino (oblique) is scheduled to return from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Cardinals in St. Louis, Jason Burke of SI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has been sidelined over three weeks due to an oblique strain, and he'll rejoin the Athletics rotation without a rehab assignment. Following the layoff, Severino could face some workload limitations in his first couple outings back in the majors. The right-hander was in strong form prior to the injury with a 3.13 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 22:6 K:BB over his last four starts.

Severino (oblique) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list during the Athletics' road trip that begins Monday in St. Louis, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Severino has been on the shelf since Aug. 9 due to a left oblique strain, but his return appears close, and he seemingly won't require a rehab assignment prior to being activated. The right-hander was in strong form before landing on the shelf, posting a 2.93 ERA and 1.16 WHIP across 27.2 innings in his five most recent starts.

Severino (oblique) will throw a simulated game Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Severino continues to work through a left oblique strain that caused him to be placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 9. He has been limited to playing catch up to this point, but he's ready to take the next step in his recovery by throwing a sim game. Severino posted a 6-11 record across 24 starts with a 4.82 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 136.1 innings prior to landing on the IL.

Severino resumed playing catch Aug. 12, but the Athletics haven't provided any further updates regarding where he stands in his recovery from a left oblique strain, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Severino was placed on the shelf Aug. 9 due to the injury, but he didn't face a prolonged no-throw period before he began playing catch. That said, the Athletics haven't indicated that Severino has resumed throwing off a mound at this point, making it difficult to project when he might be ready to return from the 15-day injured list. Luis Morales settled into Severino's spot in the rotation earlier this month and will make his fourth consecutive start Wednesday versus Detroit.
